RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
hey there when upgrading your tornado xl, you guys are saying to use the HPI vented 17tooth and the traxxas spring and clutch . I saw the website . Does the hpi 17 tooth have to be a vented one ,or can I use a regular hpi 17 tooth (not vented?)
thank you |
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
you can use the non vented on but here is a link for all you need and at a great price, the vented bell comes with bearings too, and the clutch shoe and spring can be used to, unlike the 4146x where you can only use the spring.
if you have a newer xl you dont need to upgrade, check the color of your clutch shoes, if they are black or white your ok, clutch bell too http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s...-vented/Detail http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s...-spring/Detail |
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
+1. Another foolproof way to see if you have a steel or alum bell is to try sticking a small magnet to it. If it sticks you are golden and you don't need to swap out the bell, If it does not stick you need a new steel bell.:)

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Does anyone know how to take the flywheel off of a vx-18 i have tried and could not find a way.
|
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
There is a flywheel lock washer behind the fly wheel and it has a small hole in it, you need to find a allen wrench or something you can stick in the hole to hold the crank shaft from turning, then you use the glow plug end of your five way wrech(or compatable deep well socket) and take the clutch bell shaft off. The clutch bell shaft unscrews from the crankshaft.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Check and make sure they are still rolling free. Depending on how long you have had the stock one, it might just be a better idea to replace them while it is off.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Hey every body. This is a little bit off topic, but I figured I would tell everybody I bought a monster GT 4.60 SE and it is the best vechile. I am having servo problems with my redcat. The eletronics are fried. It is the steel geared one but can it be fixed?[>:]
|
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
Is it the stock servo? If so junk it and get a hitec lol. Sorry to be so straight foward but there not worth fixing.

:( i need a new pull starter any sugegestens?? i would prefer a roto start
|
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
hpi nitro start pullstart will work or a rotostart system for a .12/.15 will work too, you can get them from towerhobbies for now, dont have any suggestions on where to get them anywhere else yet.
|
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
thnks do i have to buy the roto start or can i just use a drill with a flat head on it?
|
RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
sometimes a drill will work, depends on how good the drill is, and how fast it turns
