what suspension pieces do i need to convert my suspension to the tornado bb

ehroof 02-08-2007 09:25 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

it cant be done, i tried last year, topspeedtoys sent me the parts to convert it but it was just not possible, i still needed more parts to try to do it, its not worth it, your better off buying a car with the pivot ball suspension.

Is there a starter that can be used on the BB instead of a pull? If so, how does it assemble and what do I need

ehroof 02-09-2007 07:25 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMVE0&P=7 this replaces the pullstart, its a direct bolt on, take the pull start off and put this on, you will need a 7.2 volt battery with a charger for the battery in order to use it.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

another question. I let someone use while I was at work. I get home and the car wouldn't start. So I called Redcat to set all adjustments back to original(they were changed). Still wouldn't run, I pulled out the Idle screw found it was damaged and burred. Replaced with a HPI one. I got the car where it will start(hard to do) but will not stay running, when I apply the brake it stalls. Would it be a carb problem now and is ther a HPI carb I can use? I can't get it to adjust correctly and there is alot of fuel/oil that pours out of the muffler when I angle the car. Please help, I wanted to go run it today.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

sounds like throttel linkage adjustment, look at the carb opening when you hit the brake, if it closes the opening then the linkage needs to be adjusted, if not it can be the clutch spring, check out the clutch upgrade sticky. the tuned pipe holds oil so when you tip the car to the side it drips out. also try 2 1/2 out on the high needle and flush with the collar on the low needle.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

I'll try the high, the low is flush. I got the HPI clutch bell and pinnon gears and clutch(2pc) from tower. how hard is it to change. I can't find anything such as a print of assembly

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

when you are ready to do it let me know an i will help you out and post pictures, dont change the clutch bell unless you change the clutch spring, it will go bad eventually and you will have to remove the engine again, it sounds like the spring is your problem.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

ok, I plan on chaging it all anyway. I got the new clutch/springs and gears. I am planning on changing in a few minutes. Thanks for your help

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

also I worked the throttle back and fourth with the reciever, it looks as it gets stuck, jumps in the same area everytime. like there is something catching them gets past that point and goes to brake. But rotory doesn't return open when in neutral

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

you need to raise the idle screw so it keeps it open

frekbynature2002 02-10-2007 03:00 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

ok, now when i apply the brake, it stalls. other than that it runs. and I checked temp, its about 219

ehroof 02-10-2007 03:06 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

you have to raise the idle screw, when you apply the brake its closing the carb, turn it clockwise until its stops stalling when you hit the brake.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

ok, feel stupid. you can tell I'm a noob. Does the brake suppose to be loose(dangling sorta) or tight. how do I get to the 1 screw to tighten if needed

ehroof 02-10-2007 05:06 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

it should be a little loose not tight, there are 2 screws that hold the pads, allen heads, one on each side of the pad

frekbynature2002 02-10-2007 05:49 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

how does the clutch springs go, I have the 2 pc not the traxxes. I found the original spring missing, the bell gears were strip and the high/low gears strip
