RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

I found the problem. It was the wheel rubbing on the hub carrier. I tightened it so it wouldn't come off, but it was dragging, I unsnug a little to turn now is working fine, but the wheel comes off after 1/2hr run time. I also found grit in the dif from sand mixing with the grease. I also put back in the original clutch with the traxxes spring, runs great now. Only thing left is to replace the pipe, since I broke from a wipe-out, LOL.

Is there a header you recommend, I found an associate 7730 tuned pipe at my local store. Barely hear it running. http://h1072224.hobbyshopnow.com/pro...p?prod=ASC7730

When I pull the pull rope it's free but still working it's not catching to turn the motor is it the bearing?

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

I just had the same problem, I removed the Pull start and had to shorten the coil by 1/4" and recoil. I put back on and it worked better than it did new. does the rope recoil but doesn't turn the motor

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

sounds like the one way bearing, its not grabbing and turning over the motor even though your pulling the starter right?

hpi header and gasket and yes all headers use a gasket: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXBTB5&P=ML

gasket only: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXN376&P=M

Here are some pics of my tornado xp's:

1. upgrade your 2 speed clutch bell to: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR2&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXDHM0&P=K + http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXCLR9&P=K
you may need to widdle away a little of the upper plate post so the gears clear it

2. if you want more low end touque use this clutch bell: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXM730&P=K you will loose top end speed with this but have much low end take off

3. upgrade your single speed clutch bell to: http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s.../Detail?no=200 or this place: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLST9&P=7

4. upgrade to this clutch spring traxxas 4146x : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go

is any of this stuff a direct fit?? no modification needed??

ehroof 03-13-2007 01:39 PM

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

How durable is this little buggy? Since it's such a sweet price, I'm thinking about it just to bash it around. And which model would you recomend? We used to hold races around here and I guess it'd be nice to have something for 1/10 scale just for kicks.:D

I push my buggies to the limit, so please let me know as precisely as possible how durable this thing is.

Hello to all....We have a problem with a Tornado XP (two speed) that my son got for a Christmas gift. It has been run maybe all of two hours combined. One day when he went to use it, it started out at high rpms and was going all by itself. He tried to adjust the needle valve to lower the rpms but then the motor would die and the wheels would still be moving. He took it in to a hobby store and they tried to adjust it also but they couldn't get it to work either. It still is at way high rpms and lowering that just causes it to die with the wheels still spinning. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance for any and all help or ideas anyone has. This is his first gas vehicle and he is extremely frustrated that it only worked for a little while and being beginners we don't have a clue what to do now.

Its durable, get the tornado xp or bb, its a two speed, you just have to upgrade you clutch spring and clutch bell. i have had mine for over a year and havent broken one part. I havent stripped out a gear since i upgraded to the hpi setup.

Thanks so much for the speedy solution. My son will be excited to hear that when he gets home from school. Where is a good place to order the parts and are they easy for a 13 year old to install??
