Engine Tuning Question

Hey again everyone, so i am in the process of breaking in my new hurricane and have a couple of questions for you gurus out there. It is a bit cold here in Tucson but not freezing or anything so i have been warming up the engine with a hairdryer and getting it to kick over just fine. I used the first tank of fuel just idling the motor and that seemed just fine but when i picked up the buggy copious amounts of fuel poured out of the exhaust. Now i figured it was way to rich so i leaned it out and drove it around at about quarter throttle for the next tank and still had the same problem. Is this something that is normal with cold conditions or is my low end needle set way to rich or is it my high end still set way to rich (i think the high end screw is set about 3 turns out from being bottomed out and i haven't checked the low end screw)? Any ideas on where to start with these settings? It seemed to accelerate fine and not bog down but i haven't opened it up yet because i am very protective when breaking in my engines.

Again, thanks in advance for any help or info. I'd like to get this bad boy broken in this afternoon so i can go bombing around with a couple of friends this weekend.

RE: Engine Tuning Question

My volcano sv did the exact same thing untill i got it tuned from what i understand when breaking in you want to see fuel/oil in the exhaust.

RE: Engine Tuning Question

First off its not fuel. Its excess oil. What kind of nitro are you using? The first 5 tanks should be run rich and it is normal to see oil dripping out of teh exhaust. You also need to watch yuor temps expecially durring break in. Durring break in it is a must to get temps above 200. Not much hotter than that either. Once broke in you can get your temps up to around 250-270 for best results.

RE: Engine Tuning Question

I personally think the sh.28 runs best around 230.
