Problems

I am having an issue with my Tornado BB I just bought. When I first got it started, it wanted to take off right away. When I leave the trigger in the neutral position it wants to drive forward. In order to get it to stop, I have to push the trigger foward(reverse), but I have no reverse. Now I can't get the car to stay running. Can anyone help me?

RE: Problems

adjust the trottle trim on your remote.

RE: Problems

I have done both. I can't adjust the idle screw anymore, or it will come out. I have turned the trim about halfway back and it still does it. I will try to turn it all the way back and see what happens.

Thanks guys

RE: Problems

That is what I am going to try. If that doesn't work I don't know what I am going to do. I will let you guys know what happens.

RE: Problems

ok, I think that might have done the trick. Now I just gotta get the idle adjusted better and I should be able to get driving. Thanks for the help guys. As well as Redcat's website. They had some good info on there site that helped also.

RE: Problems

ok here is an update.I have gotten it to idle better, but, when I try to get it down enough so it doesn't try to move at all, it dies? Also, when I try to go in reverse it dies. What is the deal?

RE: Problems

will it idle off the ground, put it on a block of wood, start it and see if it will start and idle, if it will idle, its the clutch spring.

need2drag 01-20-2008 08:40 AM

RE: Problems

So I take it that if it is the clutch spring, I will have to replace that?

ehroof 01-20-2008 09:15 AM

RE: Problems

yes, its no big deal and its basic maintaince on rc's with springs on the clutch.

need2drag 01-20-2008 09:15 AM

RE: Problems

Can anyone tell me where I can see a diagram of the clutch spring?

RE: Problems

that video was perfect. I will have to check that out and see if that is the issue. What about my reverse problem? Everytime I try to push the trigger foward to go in reverse, it dies.

ehroof 01-20-2008 09:56 AM

RE: Problems

you need to turn the idle screw clockwise until the carb stays open, whats happening is the carb is closing when you hit the brakes.

it may also be dying because the spring is no good. See if the carb closes when you hit the brake.

RE: Problems

That is what I was going to ask. I have gotten the idle problem fixed, so now if I tighten that screw I should be good right?

need2drag 01-20-2008 10:44 AM

RE: Problems

ok, the carb is no longer closing, but it still won't go in reverse. IT stops good, but no reverse. am I missing something?

ehroof 01-20-2008 10:52 AM

RE: Problems

there is no reverse, only brake, lol. most nitro's dont have reverse

need2drag 01-20-2008 10:56 AM

RE: Problems

seriously??? I thought I should have reverse??? if not ok, then I guess my car is running just fine. like i said I am a newbie....and I stress the newbie. Other than that I guess I am good. Everyone has been really helpful. Thanks a lot for everything. You don't realize how much you have helped me. I guess now it is time to get dressed and take her outside and see how she does. Thanks again everyone.

your welcome brother, let me know how you make out.

RE: Problems

ok, I was just out running it, and the only issue I seem to have is that when I give it 1/2 throttle or more from a stand still it wants to bog out and die. What do I need to adjust to get this done? Do I need to adjust the low end or the high end?

RE: Problems

Can I use an automatic starter on my car?

pede_187 01-20-2008 02:20 PM

RE: Problems

You mean instead of a pull start? In that case, yes. [link=http://www.redcatracing.com/itemdetail_part.asp?partno=70111t]Here[/link] is one for the VX 18 engine

RE: Problems

ok so there is one, I will have to check the hobby store here and see if they carry one. As far as the bogging down problem??? What can you tell me about that?
