Spur Gear

I see that there is a steel spur gear available for the Volcano S30.......What's the Volcano come with from the factory...??
And is this upgrade an advisable one..??...If so...Why..??
Curious ,,That's all

Yes and no. The Steel set cost 3 times what the stock gear cost. Gear mesh needs to still be set. They will last longer but also may cause damage else where if the gears bind or get debris in the teeth.
Volcano sets:
08033t is the gear set
08013t is the assembled gear set.

On our site if you need them.

RE: Spur Gear

If you mesh right your good with plastic. I had the metal one once, and i set mesh right and im driving and i hear some grinding. So my spur is goin out, so i kept driving it to just take all the teeth off the spur. Well i did take all the teeth off....my spur and the clutch bell.

a plastic spur gear is the way to go because it becomes the"weak link" in the drivetrain. if a plastic spur gear goes out, then all you mess up (normally) is the spur gear. if you run a steel spur, you take the chance of it taking out the rest of the gears in the transmission (which are plastic). the spur gear is easier, and cheaper to replace than a transmission or transmission gears.
