Ben,
What an excellent job you have done on this plane. And just think, it uses a conversion engine too.
For those of you that don't know, the complete plans and construction article for this plane are on the net. (Spad site)
Thanks for sharing this with us.

RE: Finished my UltraSPADStick!!
That is exactly what I'm shooting for. Bought the ryobi weedie and am breaking it in on my yards. With the help of my sixth grade class I am going to begin building the Ultraspdstick asap. How did you convert the ryobi? Did you buy the parts or machine them yourself. I have access to a machine shop and would like to make the conversion parts myself. I can only hope we come close to what you have! Very nice!

Ben
Very nice I hope to start one soon. Coro shipment Harborsales has made it to San Diego, now the hard part coming South.
Will 2" long 1/4" nylon bolts secure the wing? (Original h9us120 uses longer bolts.)
Any advise for the first time builders?
What is the finished weight?

Very nice, Ben. I'm on my way to Harborfreight to buy a 31cc Ryobi, and I may have to build a Stick, too! How is the vertical performance? Did you have to add any tail weight?

RE: Finished my UltraSPADStick!!
tommy simpson: I bought the conversion kit from Paragon Aero around $100 for everything needed. I did take the flywheel to a local machine shop to be ground flat. The Paragon adapter wont work with a stock flywheel.
mikenlapaz: Yes I used 2" 1/4X20 wing bolts, the rear ones were actually cut down to about 1". AUW came in at 15 1/2 pounds!!! [X(] Alot heavier that I wanted but was to be expected, I used a little larger peices of wood for the spar and fuse stringers.
AIRPLANENUTS: It has no where near unlimited vertical due to the weight. Maybe if it had a 45cc
512 CES: To heavy.
Oodles: Where do you fly in Central? My club, Tri-County RC has a field in Central at the old landfill. We only fly there once a year or so though. You should come down and visit us one Sat morning.

PS. Here are a few shots at the field Sat morning. I stil need to finish the graphics but you get the idea of how it will look. Thanks again Kraut!!!!!

RE: Finished my UltraSPADStick!!
Wow, I love it. However, the weight concerns me. Would different wood make much difference? I want to build one, but I'd like to use a Ryobi 31cc.
The color scheme is cool. Should be easy to see! Thanks for the info, Ben.

RE: Finished my UltraSPADStick!!
Mine did come out heavier than it was supposed to. I used some lattice material from Lowes that was 1/8 X 1 1/2 X 8, this stuff was heavy but cheap. I think my next one will either be all yard stick or a lighter wood. Trust me though the weight doesnt hurt this plane other than in vertical performace, it hovers for 10-15 seconds anyway. Even on dead sticks it glides forever.
