Ace

I have been either lurking or posting in this forum for nearly a year and if there is one thing I've learned its that if a thread goes more that a single page it's usually because somebody is *****ing at somebody else.

I've been where your at right now just don't let it sour you on either forums or SPADS if you do your the one who looses not anybody else.

Yes, this is a brutal forum...a few people loose it here daily.

These sort of Internet Forums and discussion groups are based on the "foundation" of information sharing....to do otherwise is kinda forgetting what they are all about and definetly inviting a flame.

Ace:
But, it makes no sense to me that you took those pictures down. By taking that action, you really have reinforced and added credibility to those who claim your just boasting, being insensitive, and selfish (by unsharing)... Hopefully you will come back with something to share...

holy Fubar!!!
I don't wan't another fight.. i would like to show how we do it.
I even asked the designer for our coro wing if i could
this is his reply

!QUOT!Message:
Hey
some people on RCU really wan't to know our building techniques.... and I wanted to know if any one cares if i posted them. ACE Bogie!QUOT!

Message:
actulay yes i would mind , i realy do not want ot let people know exacly how to make my wings etc bodys i dotn realy care about but its to our advantage to keep it quiet persay.. however if you feel you need to let them know how to by all means o ahead, i realy dont think you can put it in words how mike and i build our planes..

Midair!QUOT!

so you see its not my info to give out
and its not me who wan't to keep a secret

like holy Sh!!!!
I'am just a kid who thought people would be interested
NOT A KID WHO GETS HIS KICKS OUT OF HOLDING INFO BACK
like ***

and for the guy who is selling those planes doesn't want to get rich
from selling them. he has only sold a couple to club members that don't have the time to build

I can't believe you people.

O.K. "Kid"...........I feel somehow responsible for making this forum go sour [:'(]

In your defense, I don't think you had ill-intent in posting this thread and have learned the ethics of giving away s.p.a.d. ideas

And I admire your mature way of taking and deflecting these shot's

However.....................I stand by what I think of this drunk at your field who doesn't want "his secrets" to leak out for fear of some "tactical advantage"[X(]

I said it before, I'll say it again, HE WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW AN AIRPLANE COULD BE BUILT OUT OF CORO, IF IT WASN'T FOR SPADONIANS. Sober up dude.

Now let's leave the kid alone before we lose a young rc supporter!
I think he's more than made up for comments in the past and is still learning, something we all need to do[8D]

Well, I think Tattoo's Spitfire looks just as good and very, very, very, very similar as the one that was previously posted as a secret design. Thats why I was looking for the pictures so that I could compare them. From my memory, that seemed like mirror copies.

the spitfire we build is alot smaller and has alot more detail in it
and it has more of an elipitcal wing on it also
i think its more scale all over

but it flys the same great way as the coro spit.
i think the coro spit is a perfect plane for a beginer in scale combat

Ace Bogie,

From your post...
however if you feel you need to let them know how to by all means o ahead, i realy dont think you can put it in words how mike and i build our planes..

so you see its not my info to give out
and its not me who wan't to keep a secret
From what I read he said that if YOU felt like you needed to let us know GO AHEAD. So please, stop holding out on us and at least try to explain the process. You guys have built some very nice planes. There are some of us SPADDers that really do like the simple part of SPAD but who also really like to build a sweet looking plane, that rivals Balsa builds in looks. You guys may have found a "new" building technique, and like Chis said maybe you haven't, how are we going to know if you don't tell us? If you have come up with something new why sit there and keep all the fun for yourselves when you can share with the world?

If AceBogie actually came up with a new way to build a SPAD it should be shared here. If it wasn't for the members of RCU sharing lots of information and knowledge handed down from all the spad original builders (Tattoo - Kraut and many others) I wouldn't be enjoying the best time I've had in ages flying. Being in the SPAD community here is all about sharing information and building techniques to keep the craze going strong. I feel it's not to try and tease others with "hey look what I've got" then run into the corner and hide when asked how you did it in fear of someone is going to be making a buck off your idea.

Has anyone ever tried to make the bends in coro with a metal brake (a machine that will perfectly bend metal to 90 degrees or more). It would result in perfectly straight bends in coro but I don't know if it would crush the flute in doing so. I did get a chance to check out acebogies pictures (before they were removed that is) and from what I could see just from the pics it looked as if the wing was bent from the leading edge in 2 separate pieces on each side of the fuse and spliced together right at the crease where it angled back. On the all white plane pic it looked as if that was the case but I'm not sure....the fuse looks to be just a foam build up. Don't know if that is right or the SECRET way they are built it just looked like that to me.

Not to look like a fool here but where can I find some plans for that sweet biplane/triplane ??

I think that is something that my MDS .61 is going to get mounted in. I originally thought about a .61 size spa3dt but that would be way to insane for my lack of skillz on the sticks.

Actually, we all have pics of Ace Bogie's plane, stored in our temporary internet files. I've scanned through mine a bit, but can't view them as thumbnails for some reason. If I could, I would easily find them.

Since Sean is still unwilling to share the information I have written an email to one of his club members asking him to. I have also sent him a link to the forum in hopes that he will come here, see what has been written, and help us all out by sharing there ideas. As mentioned before it may really be nothing new, but the suspense is killing me and if nothing more than a matter of principle I'd really like to see this come to a good ending. Hopefully the club member I wrote is a good guy and will be willing to share with us, heck they wouldn't know about SPADs if someone had not shared with them right?

Whether or not the building technique is new or not, they are very good looking Spads, that can't be denied!

Here is the reply I received from Alex:

Yes you are correct there is not really any new and twisted way we build the
spads, the only thing that we do different is , we take the real plane from
a wood kits and apply it to the spad. That way our plane look the way they
do, yes Sean has approached me on this subject and I told him to use
descresion in this area, the planes we make look great fly even better, more
realistic not open combat style, witch I totally dislike witch is why we
take our time and make sure the plane look and fly WW2 style. You are
speaking to the Number # 1 Ace pilot for 2003 in Canada, that's not to brag
but I feel it is do to the type of planes we make and fly, I am sorry if im
off topic here , I guess the real fact is the only thing that we do to make
our plane look and fly as good as they do is w take real measurements and up
scale them only 10% not a hair more and only take the wing and tail section
at that.. the body gets stretched only about 4% to accommodate the wing
saddle and that's it..as for wing design, I have updated the wing building
prosses a lot, I again taking in condeserdation that the regular spad wing
is totally wrong and way off 10% scale, for example the corro spad spit is
not even close to 10% wing or body , but I do understand why its built that
way, for ease, but when I can make a perfect replica in coro ready to fly
with serveo mounted but not painted in 1.5 hours I cannot understand why
people are still building them the way they are.
So basically they take the plans from a balsa plane, scale them up a little and build the plane to those exact dimensions. The fuse and wings are foam with coro sheeting from what I can see in the pictures on their site and also from what is mentioned on their message board.

gee. coro skinned foam... somehow, i don't think that's very new. Wings are wings. They could be cutting the arcs on the leading edges or something, but, i think for the most part, like i said, (and the guy that builds them as well) there's no real secrets here. Just someone looking for recognition for something he didn't do.

why didn't you answer?

At that time I was interested in getting some pics and construction details for a scale spad article I am putting together. However, I can't wait around for these kinds of games to be played out, so the article won't include them. They are nice, but many other nice ones exist as well.

Fellas,

This kid isn't evil or anything....just acting his age. Kind of stupid if you ask me...but I don't really care. No matter how the wings are built...does it really matter? Unless they found a way to cut the weight down exponentially...nothing they are doing can be any better than the way anybody and everybody else is doing it. An airfoil is an airfoil. Bernoulli's principle of lift applies to all of them no matter what the spar material is made of. There's not much reason to be envious of these airplanes. If you are...I've been considering paying 100 bucks for one and dissecting it making templates so I can build my own...or just order a set of 1/12 scale plans and implementing the 10% rule and spadding the sumb*tch! ( now they'll probably stop offering them for sale for fear some evil dooer winn foil their plan of the ultimate control of planet SPAD) It's as simple as that. Myself, If I could cut foam that well I'd just make a foam wing and strap tape it like JKA. Not as durable...but you could make a half dozen of them at once. So what we need to do....is make our own spad 2610 ships...and kick these guys' butts.

It's On!!!
