25 Gnat
I built a Gnat with a 25 Magnum on it and a 6oz tank friday night to fly saturday morning what a fun little plane it flew great with the CG @ about 3 3/4 you do need to manage the throttle a little bit espesially on those downwind full throttle passes.

RE: 25 Gnat
By the way, I have two gnats, one with a 25 magnum and one with a 32 magnum. A 4 oz. tank seems to be plenty big. Does it happen to pull to the left on those high-speed downwind runs? If so, I have a solution!

The Gnat is a decent flyer and I dont see any reason an intermediate flyer couldnt hadle it, It is a hand launch plane but it will actually pull right out of your hand with a 25 on it I launch it underhand by holding onto the fuel tank and applying full throttle. as far as landing use the kill button on your trans on touchdown and no problems with the props and land on grass it you can. I used standard JR 537's and a smaller JR battery pack. I will post you some more close up photos later today.

RE: thanks
I built a .25 Gnat and was disappointed with the results. I still fly my trainer, (Because I have plenty to learn) and wanted something to fly faster and that could handle the abuse of combat with the guys at the field. The Gnat was definitely an easy plane to build. I did add a rudder and main gear to my gnat, it was not that much more weight and made for a less eventful landing. The plane weighed 3lbs 12oz without fuel. The plane flew slow like my trainer. Unlike my trainer, the Gnat needed constant input to keep it flying. Don't get me wrong, I expected this requirement from any plane other than a trainer. But with this .25 turning a 9x6 it should have had alot more speed. So after heeding the advice of the more experienced folks in our club I stripped the Gnat and made a plane using a Wiffle Ball Bat. The new Bat plane is awesome! It screams thru the air weighing only 3lbs. We had one of these !QUOT!Com-Bats!QUOT! being test flown and it survived a high speed dive straight into the ground. I made my wing using a single yard stick for the spar. Another bat was made with a 46!QUOT! length of wood for the spar. These spads are great! They are so easy and CHEAP to build.
I have attached two photo's (The Gnat photo was taken before I added the rudder)

I bought a 99 cent bat from Odd Lots. It doesn't appear to matter that it does not have a flat side. Although I think the diameter of my bat is smaller, it still flies quite nice. I am still learning to fly it, but let me tell you, our club president flies the wings off this thing. Way better than the gnat for combat and just as easy to build. I even managed to shove the 4 oz fuel tank inside the bat. Due to the smaller diameter I was unable to put the elevator servo inside the bat, so I just cut a hole for it right into the handle of the bat.

RE: 25 Gnat
hey im currently building a gnat i havent currently baught a engine for it yet. I have flown a trainer various times and took off and landed a fair few times, done loops and flight ciruits that type of stuff. But i have stop flying for about a year and a half except for a gws stick, i was not very impressed with the stick i found it was to light and broke way to easy. so i was lookin for a cheap reasonably easy to fly plane that could take a hit if i had a bad landing so do you guys who have flown a gnat before think i will be able to handle the plane with out a instructor ?.
Also i was wondering what size engine i should buy to achieve the slowest and easiest flight i was just goin to put in a .15 like what was on the plans. thanks for the input Andrew
