Good 40-60 SPAD Ugly Stick Plans

    Hi,

Can anyone direct me to where I can get good SPAD UGLY STIK plans for a .40 to .40 size engine?

I would like to build one with a semi, or fully, symetrical wing that flys close to the original Ugly Stik from the 60's.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Wayne Miller

RE: Good 40-60 SPAD Ugly Stick Plans

    Hi Spadinator,

I was looking at that design, but I passed it over because it appeared to be a flat bottom wing.

Do you know if it flies OK upside down?

If not, can it be built with a symetrical or semi-symetrical wing?

    Thanks,

    Wayne Miller

You can build it with a semi symetrical wing if you like. It's pretty much your choice. THe wings I have built out of coro usually end up semi symetrical any way. I don't know how this one flies inverted but my DPS which is similar does just fine. If your looking for a sporty funfly type plane.....go back to RCSPADS and look at the SPAZZLER. It is fully symetrical and aerobatic!!!!!

    Hi Spadinator,

I went back and downloaded the SPAZZLER and looks like it may do the trick, thanks.

I'm not sure where to get the wing plans. Do you know if it uses another SPAD's wing? If so, can you tell me which one it is?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Spadinator,

Thanks for the link. I was able to save the pictures and print them out.

I also got the full size plans of the original Ugly Stick from RCM and may eventually try to build it as a SPAD using a plastic drain pipe as the body.

    I appreciate all your help.

I fly mine upside down all the time (the original still flies great!) - and the plane doesn't seem to know that it has a flat bottomed wing. It flies upside down effortlessly. You could easily build the SPADStick with a semi, or fully semetrical wing - you would just need to cut out the fuselage top to match the contour of the wing - making sure of course that proper incidence is maintained.

    Good luck!
