Default (QHOR & SPA3D plans here) Wing with no spar and no glue needed

If it ever stops raining, I'll find out if this wing idea will work...sort of a cross between a pizza box and an airplane, very solid little airplane...I have no idea what to expect from this airfoil...but there's only one way to find out...if the rain/snow stops!

Edit note!
This plane has been very successful! Here is everything I've done up for it including the original, 40 sized version, GeeBee, profile version and the latest version, the SPA3D

You better be quick with those 30" wings, because the plane looks quick. Looks good.

How did you make such a nice cutout for the throttle servo?

Another idea: Whether or not this wing configuration flies well, and I'm leaning towards it flying well, this has another use. For those who have trouble using glue to make regular spad wings, such as those for a Dom, Demon, DPS, etc., this could be their solution. Just extend that bottom lip all the way back to the te, or as far back as possible before flexing issues set it. If the triple facet is a problem, make two folds and build a square spacer piece to go between the alum fuse and the top wing panel, like the SPAD Pizza box?

Default How about 2mil?

Would 2mil be strong enough for the quikhor wing? I would like to electrify one and want to know if the weight savings is worth the loss in strength/stiffness????

If you guys keep designing such cool planes there might be a world wide shortage of coroplast from all of the people building SPADS.... :devious:
The greatest thing that i have seen with building spads so far is that the wings are easy to recycle on to other planes and the possibility's are unlimited. I am seriously considering a coro autogyro....

I would have to say that 2mm would never hold up to flying with a glo engine, at the weight, speeds and maneuvers I was doing...but then I've also never flown electric...and have no idea how heavy the plane would be, or the stresses you would put on it...so I really don't know enough about electrics to be able to answer that...but you know...there's really only one sure way to find out!

SWEET ! Can any of you guys help me find some plans to build a spad Cub? I want something in the .40 or .46 size range.I am still in thr process of learning how to fly.Actually I am experimenting.I have 2 debonairs and have taught my brother and a few friends to fly. There is no way I am gonna buy a cub when someone has plans for a spad cub.I have a few peices left from my Duraplane...Its bad when a spad is tuffer than a duraplane.Keep up the good work Tatoo and thanx for the help.you guys are what makes flying possible for young bucks like myself

there aren't any plans specifically for a spad cub that i know of. I did build a plane i called barney, and it looks somewhat like a cub, with a different wing. Stick a straight wing on it, and it looks a whole lot like one.
The plans aren't fancy, but they have some general sizes, and, you can go from there.
There's lots of pics of it, and of the clt (cublike thing) on my site as well.

Plans here:

http://spad.tc-pc.com/barneyplans/oldtimer.zip

right click and save as.

that thing is awesome...you guess a 48in. wing and a 50,51in. channel would carry a .40 size motor???very nice but a little small for my taste.john
