Yet another new QHOR
My first real SPAD all the way through....
Went by Home Depot at lunch to get a piece of C-channel and some 1/8 gear stock, started on it about 6 this evening, now it's done...
First flight tomorrow, if the weather gets good...
OS .40 LA, Futaba radio, just under 4 lbs, by my classy bathroom scale.... I used a 36" wing, since a bit bigger engine, and I used Chris' rudder design, since it had a bit more oomph to it...
I put the pics on my web site, as here they don't allow them so big... each is a little over 100K....

Thanks again Tattoo and Chris!

P.S. to Tattoo - An hour and a half, my but! Took me 5 hours!

Success!!!!
Fired up that brand new OS, tuned it a bit, leaving it a little rich, turned it into the wind and tromped down on it! Lifted off in about 20 feet. Needed some trimming of course, but I flew for a few minutes without it... Great fun!
With the OS .40 LA, I can 'barely' pull straight out of a pure vertical hover, but it will do it. Could use a little more power, but I knew that going into the deal...
Loads and loads of fun! Ran about 4 8 ounce tanks through it today, and it worked really well.

Yay!!!!!!
I brought out my trusty old Sterling Stearman, in case of disaster, but it wasn't needed at all!
Yay again!

RIGHT ON!!!!
I'm very interested in weather or not you had any wing flex issues with the larger wingspan and heavier all up weight. Every New and Different QHOR is going to be research for the rest of us, and it will be interesting to see how large of a span and big of an engine the no glue/sparless open wing can go...Thanks for the report!!!

no flex...
Tattoo, to the best that I could tell, I didn't see any wing flex on the plane with the 36" wing. I think there are some upper size limits, especially for 4 mm coro, but mine seems to be working fine. Weighs in just under 4 lbs....
I was thinking about building a bigger one, but not really sure just yet. I've got some 10 mm coro for a real hoss of a plane, but no super duty servos or big engine to carry it... Plus I've no idea if it could be bent like the 4 mm stuff.
I'm also considering a really small one, like maybe tonight... I'll let you know tomorrow if I follow through on it...

cut the tail off of a qhor, add a couple of inches to the elevons, and go fly. You'll love it.

PeeWee QHOR
Well, after 4 hours, I abandoned the Pee Wee HOR. The airframe with engine was already at 10 oz, but the worst part was that even with the landing gear and battery right behind the firewall, the wing STILL had to be about 50% back on the fuse to balance out, and that's without servos on it yet. It just looks too funky like that to continue....
Oh well....
