You guys were having way too much fun with the boats, so, since we got just enough snow to shut Memphis down for the day, i decided i'd build me one.
I spent about 3 hours on it total, including design time.
At 3 lbs, i think it'll be ok with the mag 28, but, a 40 sounds better.

folded 2 mil coro. Its great on an icy street. But, on loose snow, its not so hot. So, i folded up a 2 mil boat to fit around it, stuck a couple bamboo skewers through it, and tried it again. I didn't really have room to wring it out in my front yard, but it looks like its gonna be alot of fun.

Yep, it turns fine now. What a hoot. We're supposed to get some more white stuff tonight so i can run it in the street in the morning. I waited too late today, and it was mostly melted. I almost wore a hole in one of the sponsons, but, the wild part was it would doughnut awesome. Looked like you had a stake right at the front of the sponson, just round and round and round.

RE: SPlaTH
i see. No, i don't have any plans for it. It was one of the very few things that i just started cutting coro and went to work on - i can't even find any more pics of it, though i'm sure i took more. At any rate, the tiles on the table are 6" sqaures, that should give you a rough idea of the size it was.

RE: SPlaTH
looks crude
how does it fly-I meen sail
when you get bored of screwing about on water why not givit a wing and make a glow hydroplane that would be prety darn neat.
Nice build, and that is in my kinda time, kinda reminds me of Rushia.

Chris
I have a base made for my SPLATH but the pictures you posted in the beginning of the thread I can not open or view - I was wondering if you can post some pics of your linkage to the rudder and engine.
I can view the other picutes you posted (the rear shot) and the shot siting on table)
I have an idea how to mount the engine but need some help where to put the servos and run linkage
thanks for the help

RE: SPlaTH
i don't think i have the pics anymore, unfortunately. I'll look, though. If you look at the 2 pics above, you can mostly see what you need to know. The rudder servo is on the left side of the bottom pvc fuse. The rudders are hinged at about 1/3 of their cord, with bamboo skewers. The control horn is located on the hinge line, and one of the rudders is notched so that it would slide by the control rod when its turned.
the other rudder is connected to the first one at the trailing edge, with aileron interconnects. Plain old control horns would work fine as well, or dual servos, or whatever. The important thing is to hinge them at around 1/3 of the chord, so the area in front helps the servo move the surface.

Thanks Chris. I will work on the planes while I build and see if it comes out. I'll take pictures along the way just in case. Winds are supposed to be at 3 mph tomorrow so I'll try get some flying in. Thanks again.
