The Talon sucks, it's no fun to fly. I would suggest not wasting your time on it, leave it in the box and send it to me. I would be more than happy to help you dispose of it. PM me, I'll give you all the info to send it.

Gregziemba,

I have a Talon and love it. I'm changing to a bigger engine and thinking about putting landing gear on it.

One of the neat design features of the forward swept wing is that the root stalls first, as usual, but the tips are still in clean air and flying just fine. It basically won't do a nasty stall, just mush when you get below stall speed, and you'll still have aileron control. With a Magnum XL 40, Tower muffler, and a 6v rx battery, it would do about 3 rolls per second if not faster, all axial and clean. [8D]

Put a 40 sized engine on the nose, balance it correctly, and bring a clean pair of shorts with you for the maiden!

If you don't like it, THEN send it to FantzyPantz!

Blue skies,

DL

It's a nice flying plane. Flys about like any trainer you've ever had, but you can dial the controls up for a faster roll. Gear makes it a nice touch n go airplane.

60-70 mph tops. La isn't really that strong of an engine. I have an MDS 48 on mine and I'd be suprised if it makes it out of the upper 70's.

Greg, I was just pulling your leg. I've seen Clean's Talon and it is a very nice flying SPAD. I'm sorry I tried talking you out of your winnings. It won't happen again.

I feel so ashamed of myself... maybe someone can cheer me up by sending me a Talon or something...

I feel that I don't have much chance of this being answered as the original post is almost 3 years old but.....
I would like very much to have a set of plans to build the Talon as a SPAD. I have as of yet been unable to locate the plans.
The guy  who sells the plane as a ARF was supposed to get one to me but that has not come to pass as of yet.
Anyone can send me some plans or point me to them I will be forever grateful.

stumblebum2,

Welcome to the wonderful world of fantastic flying plastic!

You won't find any plans to the Talon. It was designed and built by [link=http://plasticconceptplanes.com/index.html]Plastic Concept Planes[/link] to sell as part of their product line. If you search here or on [link=http://www.spadworld.net]SPADWorld[/link] for the SPADrastic, there should be plans for it. Nearly the same thing but a little different. Let us know what you came up with and don't forget the pics!

Blue skies,

DL

Just done the search using different combinations of "RC airplane ARF SPAD Plastic Concept Planes" which returned "NO" results.
Maybe the site will be back up later.

of course I read it, its not accurate and an email to the poc on the website hasn't yielded a reply. Bummer, the talon is a great flying machine particularly with a MDS .58 spinning a 10x7 prop.

I've had a Talon for a couple years now. It is alot of fun to fly and a real screamer. In fact it is the only SPAD in my current inventory. I run a OS 55AX with a tuned pipe on mine. It is downright scary at full throttle!

A quick up date for the Talon being a good spad...  It happens to be one of my best sellers and all who own one seems to love it, myself included.  The only draw back is that it is also the most time consuming next to the Porsch to build. But they do fly great, Scott was the original designer "The Mad Spadder"  and he has created some unique planes over the years.  Dream it RC was started by him along with "autopilot1"
I thank them both and will continue to sell their products as long as I can get a CNC guy at a reasonable rate.
Best of Flying

Here's a shot of mine that I've had for a couple of years now. I gave it a Japanese motiff in line with my clubs annual "Battle of Midway" combat event. I alos added a bombdrop which is a hoot....

My spad has an MDS .58 engine one it running an 11x7 prop. It is fast enough for me and the roll rate on it is pretty decent. I do have landing gear on mine and take off/land like a normal plane. I have a separate mini servo for the steerable tail gear. I have a pitts muffler on the MDS but the oversize carb and MDS design requires one of the exhaust ports on the pitts muffler to be plugged for a reliable running engine. The MDS loves to scream and is a perfect match.
