define biggest. I had one that had an 8' wingspan, and was powered by a g62. Scott, aka the mad spadder built a flying car that was the better part of a 4x8 sheet- powered by a zenoh 38 or 45cc - i've forgotten which.
I've got a 2000+sq. in. profile thats 2/3 finished as well.

If we're going by wing area, THIS was over 2300 in^2.

Here's just a pic if you don't want to read the thread.

here's the smallest (r/c) spad-

cox .010 and 2 gws micro's, and 4 channel gws rx. teensy tiny battery.

far as biggest - the formula used at the first spadfest was wingspan X fuselage length x engine size. biggest number wins.

edit - it might've been wing area instead of wingspan. The big flying car beat out my big cap -

it had a wing area of 1610", wingspan of 90" and a fuse length of 70" with a g62 for power.

If you use that formula - The big car's the biggest. Weightwise, Deadeye's and LVSpark both built 25 lb ers. (iirc - LV's was a pusher camera rig with a chainsaw conversion on the tail.)

The big cap weighed 21 lbs before i put the lighter bigger wings on it - then it only weighed 18 lbs - go figure.

At any rate, its all in the eye of the beholder. I've had a couple of other real biggies as well - A giant cubbish plane with an 8' x16" chord, and homelite 45 for power, and a giant profile - right about 1900" of wingspan, another 45cc homey for power. Both of those only weighed around 15 lbs. The new one should weigh about 17 lbs, and be a good deal bigger- i think around 2400" of wing area. I finally bought an engine for it, so maybe i'll get it finished before too much longer.

I got to see one sort of fly today at SoTex that had a span of 16', and a GP fuse around 10'. Was a sight to behold. in the end, Fluter got her.

Edit: The flight was actually with an 8" wing. He also had a 12" wing for it. I hadn't realized he had changed wings and I was dashing (too late ) for my camera.

Maybe not the biggest one at 25 pounds but it has got four engines and a nose rudder........and by far is the ugliest one.......Cheers/Harald
