QHOR 40 fuselage keeps bending?
I built the qhor 40 to typical specs with a 1/2'' x 7/8'' x 1/2'' aluminum channel and installed a os46fx with a slightly larger motor mount assembly. Anything short of a perfect gentle landing bends the fuselage right at the motor mount / wing connection. I've done this several times already, twice today. Does anyone have any ideas on strengthening the fuse there? Clearly I'm packing some weight on the nose but I think it can be improved.

Is the open side of the channel facing up or down?,if its facing down,then that could be your problem because the torsional strenghth of the channel is weaker with the channel facing down

Is your landing gear attached to the motor mount? THis takes the preassure off the fuse. also use 1/8 thickness channel.
I have had some hard landings with this set up with plenty of success.

I'm using poplar wood to make my motor mounts. I have to the wood press into the channel and go back a few inches. My landing gear is mounted to motor mount as well. Haven't had a bent channel yet.

The open side is up and the landing gear is mounted to the motor mount. Going to thicker channel is my current thought of remedy. I also thought of doubling the fuse in the affected area, mabye 4 to 6 inches worth?

I have 46 FX and crashed many times with no damage. I used music wire gear and I have really twisted that up but never the channel. If you are not using wire gear try that.

I had the same bending problem so I cut a piece of wood to fit inside the channel. It runs from the very front of the fuselage to somewhere around the aileron servo . I then glued and screwed the wood in the channel. No more problems
