This P-40 is for SSC combat, It will have a .15 mag in it. Its all coro. Its probably the first coro P-40 of this type of construction.

the maiden went very well. its a nice flying plane. It doesnt however have the punch it needs for SSC combat. I will make another one, slightly smaller and lighter, that will help. Im having a little trouble with the audio portion of the video. I hope to have it figured out soon

She turned out very nice!

Could a mylar sheet wing be built fairly quick and strong around a simple plastic framework to save some weight? Same goes for the fuselage, I wonder if any plastic Gurus have tried sheet plastic?

Weight issue - Have you considered a 2mm fuze, with a little internal structure?

Thanks Guys! the biggest thing I did was put leading edge amour in the wing. that was the first mistake. it really doesnt need it for SSC. the second is, the plane fuse is longer than I thought, shortening it up 3 inches will help alot also and make it more manuverable. there is very little in the inside structure, it gets its strength from the 4mil. I just need to shave 3 or 4 oz off of it

This particular plane will be awesome with a 25 in it

Hey CP have you guys ever tried anything like this:

My son (8 at the time) and I, took some contact paper (the kind you would use to cover a wooden desk or shelve) that one of his teachers gave him, and tried to cover a Stick .40 wing with it. It is a little tricky to get laid out, because of the adhesive on the back. Just cover the area as neatly as possible. Once you have your plane covered - use a heat gun, starting a distance away from the covering, and slowly move closer to your covering. This stuff melts as though it is going to go through the wing. As it cools - it shrinks up drum tight. You may have to retouch some areas a little. It is a little heavier than Monokote and such, but it is a LOT stronger, and cheaper. Thought you might like to know

When I read that I thought that is CRAZY. Why haven't I heard of anyone doing anything like that? That is some sho nuff spad material right there. And when I read what you said about covering ribs with mylar or plastic it made me think of this. I would *really* like to try this. I've got all these election signs I want to use but it's 4mm and heavy. Contact paper might be heavier than monokote but if you holed a 4mm wing and used contact paper I bet it's lighter than 4mm coro!

Oh BTW, you're driving me crazy with these coro warbirds Andy.  That pic on your web page of that Corosair..... MAN I want one of those.  I'm not crazy enough to think I could fly something like that yet though so I'm trying to keep it all in perspective.    Is there any way to mount landing gear on one of those?

he he he Pat, thats my goal! yes, gear could be put on them, you would want an active rudder for a tail wheel. they are alot of fun and I have another model or two up my sleeve, he he he.

I like the P40, Modded the corospit to make a P40 but ended giving it to another member that was out a combat plane, that thing flew great....well until it went into the wild blue yonder and lives with the trees some place, He never found it.
