Default New bird

Here is my upscaled Corrowot. She is 1.6 x 1.25 with a 61 up front.

It has a slight problem with the C/G. It needs about 700g in the nose..thats with every thing mounted at the front.

I have 2 options, Mount the ASP400 or extend the 61 engine 160mm...

Hi jaav
I would move the wing back, along with the landing gear.

Hi jaav
I agree, it is difficult. On my SPAD Biplane I made a mistake on my CG location and had to move both wings back. As I build I keep the CG in mind at every step. Usually I end up very good, but occasionally I screw up. Part of the experience. I try to leave options so I can move things.

1st flight was good, a nice and gental run with low rates perfect landing. the opened up the rates and had fun..Very little trim was required, the only faults I found is real bad rudder flutter to the pint is disconects the tail wheel ( it has to move up 7mm it disconect the link) She is a lot more stable upside down so I might mount the U/C on the wing as well and it needs a bit more down thrust.

have vids on all 5 flights. The last 4 flights had a H9 P51 doing combats with me, a lot of fun...Will mount a much bigger engine on her in a week or 2 (Ryobi).

Congratulations! You flew and still have the plane! Such a deal! Good going. Quite a sense of accomplishment, wasn't it? Thanks; Ernie P.

I'll bet the flutter problem is with the rudder balance. Can you run a CF rod horizontally through the balance, and into the rudder itself? Thanks; Ernie P.

The flutter changed to a drumming so I cut the balance off. No more problems..

After doing low speed work, the nose droped regained controll for a sec then turned into a mud dart....

After cleaning her up for the next run, the radio system was dead..Dont know whats going on yet.. This is the 2nd day of use for this new radio. My 1st 2.4ghz.

A vid of the last flight yesterday.

See? I sometimes know what's happening. <g> Check the voltage on your transmitter battery. If the voltage drops, the system will recycle; and while its recycling, you're locked out. It may be your TX battery just ran out of juice on the last flight. Thanks; Ernie P.

After 3 tanks of problem free flying, I made her swim in the ocean. Landed short and touched down on the edge of the water flipping her over as she floated in the waves.

I think that muffler you have under the engine is much to heavy, maybe remote mount it toward the rear about 50 feet, that should help the balance.

Or, just mail the engine to me, I am about 1500 miles away, that offset should help.

GOOD LUCK!!

I think it will suffer from massive torque roll at idle and the UC has to be raised..

I landed this girl in the ocean 2 weeks ago..Distracted landing....There is a vid of it along with blood on the wing on the tube (RC Broome) Today did a high Alfa with no speed and way too low, (read showing off) wing droped past 90 and hit the water again with the wing this time , yep she floats. Ran her up again and found it real sluggish in the turns and wanted to roll all the time...After landing found the wing to fuse pins made out of CF had split all 3 and the wing was moving..its a wounder it stayed up there..now she's going for the big refit....New engine 32cc and sprout an extra wing...
