it is listed in the materials list that 1 sheet of corro is used. I cannot figure out how the wing panels and the fusalog could be cut out of one sheet. to me it just doesnt work out. I must be missing something???
I never have much luck trying to save coro, and most all the 4mil I use is free.
So I tend to build RNAF style wings.

All My 2mil; I bought 24x48 and add panels of 2mil to extend the Span, but I'm limited to 13.5" cord including the ailerons.

I'm sure there is a method to the madness, some where.
Good luck.
Jeff

RE: Cor-Star 60 Version 2.0 plans and pics

the plane flies really nice, I havnt weighed it but it seems a little heavy. I have a os 61 fx in it right now, maybe the new 75ax or the 91 fx would really waken this up. I am building a second plane and I have found a couple of places to shave some weight and I am able to move the electonics forward more, it came out a little tail heavy. I am gona use 2 mil on the turtle deck and bottom, the tailfeathers are 3 layers of 2 mil. the 3 layers might be a shade ligter than the 2 layers of 4 mil, maybe not. and I did the RNAF wing on it. I should have it up this sunday. I am gona go out to the shop and glue the fus to the wood infrastructure in a few min. I sure get alot of surprised looks at the field when I tell the guys its coroplast. we have about 4 or 5 spadders in the club. I will post picts of corostar #2 when its done, thank you for the nice design, I sure have enjoyed it

think this plane would fly alright with a homelite 25cc?

RE: Cor-Star 60 Version 2.0 plans and pics

Probably, although it is going to be heavy. You may have to slide the wing around to achieve CG, so don't cut your wing saddles until you have determined where that will be.

what about an echo 21.2

It depends on the weight. This is a 60 size aircraft.

BUMP! I'm considering this as my 2nd plane. With a Saito 72 Four stroke?

A friend tried a Saito 82, and it was anemic to say the least. Will it fly it? Probably. But don't expect alot of performance.

hey dwalk, Ihave been following your post on spadworld, just havnt replyed yet. this plane is pretty heavy, you would need at least a saito 100. and on the 2 stroke side a 75, the 60 did fly it good but I would have prefered more power. I will soon be doing a 40 size coro star 40. I will be getting on it shortly. check out my coro kaos on my web site, midcalspads and you can see that almost any balsa plane can be made into coro. if you have the the stuff, go with the DPS or the corostick, they make an excellent 2nd coro plane, make the corostick wing RNAF style. or if you want a low wing, the coyote is also very good.

RE: Cor-Star 60 Version 2.0 plans and pics

Hey Draftman, I love the look of your CoroKaos, are there any plans available? I'd love to make one, probably a little advanced for me as of right now, but at least with Coro, they are real durable, so you can build an advanced model, crash it, realise it's too much, and leave it to fly another day.

RE: Cor-Star 60 Version 2.0 plans and pics

thanks dwalk. I am working on the plans now. this plane is for a 50 to 55 size. I am going to scale it down for a 46. I need to take just a little bit of weight off of it for the 46. It is a very nice flying plane. its rock solid, how about full throttle at one ft above the deck!!! did you see the coyote? that would be a great first time low wing, it is very simular to the four star, basicly the same wing with a pvc body but I will get a coro body designd for it real soon to make it look like a four star.

All I can say is WOW.

I have been all over looking for a great low wing trainer. AND THIS IS THE ONE :)))) About 5 years ago, I had a 4*60 with a YS-91 on it, but was never able to fly it. I ended up losing that plane in Katrina.

Have always wanted to get another one, but was never able to find the time to build one. Well now I do have time and I am ready to get to it. I just have a few questions thou.

1.) Has anybody been able to hang a G-23 on the front of this beauty, and if so what mods do you need to make???

2.) I read in the post that the wing came in 1lb over the balsa version, was this due to being a all 4 Mill build? If so, would 2 Mil on top work just as well??

3.) WHERE CAN I FIND SOME PLANS :)))))

Thanks guys,

And again, I just want to say WHAT A BEAUTY :D

PS: Just wanted to mention, I have built the Deb before, so I do know how to work with Coro and CA.

1) It could be done, I'm sure. I'm a fan over powering.

2) You might save a little weight with 2 mil, but I can't comment on the strength you will have, especially with a G23 on it.

3) The 'plans' are this thread I started so many years ago. All you really need is a side template of a 4 Star.

Good luck, and post back when you finish her!
