Where to buy square PVC tube?
 

I crashed my Durastik and Home Depot doesn't carry the thin wall square PVC tubing. Any ideas where I can find it fast?

Try some of the smaller hardware stores, especially the locally owned ones. It's 2.5"x2.5" OD PVC gutter downspout. Some places might not have it in stock but can order it for you. I get mine from a place called "Sutherland's" for about $6 per 10 foot length.

Let us know what you come up with.

Clean, if you want, I can swing by Sutherlands, pick up a few sticks, cut to your specs, and send them to you.

Thanks guy, when I run out I'll order it in here and save the fus but I do appreciate the offer. We had Sutherlands up here but they all went out and so did our fixed supply of pipe. Now we have to order it.

Would have been convenient and fun to walk up and say, Hey I'm from KC, where do you keep the airplane fuses at?

It may be easier to find if you use the trade name for the downspout - 'Raingo'. I found it in a couple of local mum and pop hardware stores. The big boys didn't carry it as there were insufficient sales.
The brown has a slightly thinner wall than the white but the thinnest is the stuff sold for mobile homes. A company specialising in mobile home repair parts is your best bet for this stuff.

It comes in 10 foot sections that you'll need to have cut down, typically to 40 inches (three equal lengths).

Thanks for the tips guys. I actually found a fellow club member who can get it from his job. In the meantime I just bought a Hangar 9 Twist and I am VERY happy with it. I'd forgotten how cumbersome that Durastik was.....

I might have to call Revay, I've been looking both on line and in the local stores for months, and I can't find it anywhere local. I can find tons of it online but only in packs of 10 for around $130, that would make 30 planes. The real deal killer is that they want to charge another $120 to ship it to me because it's an over sized package. I'm not paying $250 for that stuff.

Genova can also tell you whom in your area carries the product. I did that a couple of years ago and haven't been out of down spout since.

Convert your planes to using 1!QUOT! square aluminum tubing and give up on PVC tubing. I have a twin engine, two engine Pusher/Puller, Canard, and Flying Lawnmower, all using 1!QUOT! square aluminum.

Try a Tru Value hardware store. Most carry the gutter pipe and if you don't see it, they will order it from their catalogue. I get mine there and the only drawback is the cost about $12 for a 10 foot section.

I just purchased some. Under $20 with shipping and handling for three sticks of 40inch. Revay's new ext is #277. Great thanks.

I needed some when this all started. I went to Lowes and ordered a case of it. I've been selling SPADS for a couple of years and have two ten footers left. Try Lowes get a group together and order a case.;)

luds96 have you tryed true value on rt 81 in killingworth-clinton line or the one on rt 80 in north branford? where do you fly? I fly the swamp and durham fair grounds good luck Erik

My friend owns a rain gutter business that supplies Gutter Helmet, so when they install their product, they rip out the PVC gutter pipe a lot of times. Ergo, square PVC pipe is their TRASH! See if a rain gutter company in your area might have the same situation. I just went out back behind their shop and had my own pile of PVC pipe to choose from. Granted it wasn't new and shiny, but we ARE talking about SPADS, right?! ;)

just stumbled across your post, (i'm in buffalo, n.y.) clicked on your link, found there is a grossman 5 miles from the house, called and was told they discontiused 2.5x2.5, could only get 2x3, the hunt continuses. thanks steve

Only kidding. I grew up in Buffalo, spent many summer hours fishing and skiing on the river. But back to the subject. I found that calling Genova Products and asking where in my area I could find 2 1/2" square downspout (RainGo) was the best way to find the stuff.

thanks for the link, i ran all over buffalo on sat. could not find any. ordered some off the net this morning, found your link,found the map,searched by zip code, called the agway 2 miles away, " i only got one piece in stock, but i can order you more". thanks steve:)
