My friends dad gave me a huge spad when they moved a few years back... he has flown it and it flew well but the ryobi engine he had oon it no longer runs... I dont know where this plane came from what it is or what engine I need to put on it? Unfortunaely all this plane has done is sit in my parents barn for the last 2 years and I wanna get it goin again! any help will be appreciated!

that realy doesnt look like a standard spad from a plan. it looks like its somebodys own design. it looks cool and I bet it has some history to it. try to find what size engine is on it and replace it with a simular engine. there are plenty of imported 2 stroks now, Just get one that is about the same CC.
my hunch is that the ryobi is a 33cc

I dont know the engine he had on it.. he had tken it off and only left the mount and it bolyed up to my old ryobi weedeater engine but I dont know the size... what i think is wierd is hat the plane says zenoa on the sign so that couldve been the kind of engine he had on it?

Its a spad. Slap whatever you have laying around on it and see if it will fly.

Looks like they blew up a Super Deb for a weedeater engine. Is that 6x6 PVC post?

Cat actually looks a little small on it.

Its the pvc fence post yes... even without the egine on it its extremly heavy its gotta atleast be over 15 pounds with the lil ryobi i have bolted up on it...

Looks like Canadian downspout (2.5" pvc) and the wing looks like a SpadFlyer.com trainer. Is the wing 48"?

the wings over 80 inches and the fuse is aproximately 4 ft longs...

Looks like the USS with the 4" PVC fence post with the Ryobi 31 CC engine. Here's mine I made. Looks very similar.

Flys like a trainer. I have added a smoke system to this setup. Uses a windshield washer pump to force a mixture of automatic transmission fluid-diesel to the muffler. pump is controlled by a micro-switch. Smoke is awesome looking in air !!!

theyre very similar! except for the fact yours is a low wing! um the 31 cc ryobi what modifications did you put on it to make it lighter?

Cut off anything that doesn't relate to flying. Do a search on "Teaching a weedwacker to fly". They give a step by step approach on converting a Ryobi 31 engine from weedwacker to flight.

You ought to be able to fix the engine easily enough.
If you don't want to fix it yourself, you can take it to a small engine repair shop, and pay for them to fix it.
They likely have a pile of used engines out back and the repair cost would be reasonable.
maybe even get a newer used engine worst case.
it probably needs the carb cleaned and rebuilt if the rubber parts have deteriorated.
