Lookin' good, Jake! I can't wait to see her in-person. (Hopefully you bring it down with you to show off sometime at one of the races.)
Thanks Ollie.

Im sure I will bring it out there, but it will probably be in the summer. All the hard work is done, it is just the little stuff now. Im am going to paint the numbers and marking on it so do you know of any website where I can get some printable stencils for the numbers and what not?

Got my paints today, I screwed up and thought I had the belly color already, but I have a different blue and will look odd if I use it, so I will get the right blue later. What is important is that I at least got the primer.

Actually Jake, I do.

I found this website about a month or so ago (link below). It has several german font styles that were used as stenciled letters for markings on german WWII warbirds (as well as British, American, and Russian).I wasable todownload the fonts for free. You should be able to do the same, and make your own stencils; or, make a file that a graphics place can use for vinyl letters to be placed directly on the plane, or perhaps utilize to make you reusable painting stencils.

http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/foru...tary-fonts-19/

Enjoy . . . and good luck!

It sounds like that was helpful. I'm glad I could help, Jake.

I also have several files on unit emblems and squadron markings, if needed. Tell me what you are looking for, and I'll seeif Ihave it, and can email it to you.

Ollie

Im just trying to get the German number font for making stencil markings for the side of the fuse (yellow 1). If you have a german number font that would be great.

So far, I got the motor mounted and got the cowling fitted. Coming along but it is sucking up a lot of my time. I may take a break tomorrow. a little closer everyday.

Sounds good, I only need the 1 digit at a proportion where the length is 3 1/4 inches. Think you could get one to that size?

Well with Spring Break currently in full swing (wet and crappy though), I will try to get this bird painted this week.

Cut out the wheel covers and I am really happy with how they came out.

Shot a coat of primer on there and sanded it down, I will try and spray another coat tomorrow. I only have enough primer for two coats so that will have to be enough.

Got my pilot too!

Here are a few pics before my first sanding. The primer sure does show the spots you need to work on .

Thanks Ollie, I don't think it will be done by the next race, but the one after that may be a real possiblity.

Well, no primer today, so maybe tomorrow. I went ahead and got the wheel covers on. Is it me or does it take a ridiculuous amount of time to get those wheel covers installed? Anyways, they are done and went ahead and masked the canopy and sanded it for priming. So just a pic to show you how it looks with the work so far.

Here is a pic of the painting so far. Still need to do the mottling on the side, the color bands on the aft of the fuse and paint the rudder and exhaust stacks. It is coming along though. Just needed to show you that I am moving forward, even if it is slow.

It looks nice Jake. What kind of paint are you using? Are you also finishing with a clear coat?

Thanks, I am using the colors from warbirdcolors.com . I bought their clearcoat too, but I don't know if I am going to apply it though. Im not sure if it will make it glossy or not. What do you think?

We are planning to run the Sacramento Smackdown warbird race Sunday as planned. By the looks of the weather, the storm will not be here until late Sunday afternoon to early Sunday night. We have got everything for the race and ready to run.

Hope to see you all in the morning.
