RE: VacaValley, CA T-34 Race...Who's going?
It was a good day for racing on sunday. I wish more of you San Jose guys could have made it out. we only had one midair and that was near the end of the race. The guy finished the 10 laps flew straight to the turn then pulled straight up like reno style and went right through one guy making the turn at the pylon. It was my first race and very exciting wasnt as crowded in the air as i thought. only five planes at a time.
the next race is looking around june 1st. i will have a back up plane just in case.

I was there bright and early on Sat morn. It was blowing hard. We made a family day of it, went into Fairfield for a picnic lunch and then we took the kids to Jelly Belly. had already made plans to have a model car building day with my boys on Sunday or I would have come back. Once I found the field I thought it looked like a great place to fly. I plan to make the next one.

How about running some T-34 races and a .46 mod class?

well i could run a plane against you but I dont think many in the club have a plane yet but we could have some set up in couple of months. i will bring up at next meeting and see. The plane i have that meets the 46 size rules will only run about 155-160 so i dont think i would be competive.

That would be more then competitive. I agree that it could be something that will be best added in a couple months. The plus side is that those flying T-34s and want a little more speed can start tweaking their 46 AX engines and adding performance mufflers/pipes.

i have already put a super hot 53 in the T-34. 10x7 at 17,100 on the ground and only 17,500 in the air. the pipe is holding it back in the air. anyway the T-34 has so much drag that i only picked up 10-13 mph with more powerfull engine. i dont race with that engine we just wanted to see if the T-34 will handle all the power and still do pylon turns.
