Jake I used to run AC/FZ set up with the 13x12n with 50% on my Rare Bear back in the day. It had a 550 sq wing on it ant it would easily break out of silver with times of 1:56:00

You need diameter for sure. Try a 14x10 on normal fuel first to see how she does. If you come to sac at some point we can get it figured out.

I have a 13X10 sitting around that I may use for getting it up in the air with 30%. For the maiden, nothing too fast, just something stable.

A final build video for the 209:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC4HrGdK5FA
I will be maidening it on the Saturday before the race at SAMS and at some point maybe get some video of it flying, but other than that this build is officially done. Thanks for all those that have watched, patiently, over the years, and the tips and help from all the builders and flyers. Once a flight report is posted I will call this thread officially over.

Okay . . .

. . . and we can expect your next build thread to begin in August then, right?! (It's not like you have anything better to do than entertain us all.)

Just kidding, my friend. I am very grateful you took the time to share your process - I wish more would. (The racing forum has been a little s-l-o-w lately.) It was very interesting, and I especially enjoyed the video approach. Thank you!

Hey Terry,

Tim wanted to answer you directly, but is having trouble logging-in to RCU from a remote location at the moment. I talked to him; they are definitely still available, and he would be happy to get you a kit.

Email him directly at [email protected] and he'll get you all set up!

I believe there is a clause in the purchase of these kits that each builder must start a build thread so that we may all watch the progress.

I think I read that, too!
" . . . Yeah, that's it."

(Well, if there isn't, there probably should be. I really like that idea, Jake.)

Well....don't get too excited or hold your breath......I am a master at slow builds. Emphasis on slow.

I sent Tim a payment this eve so someday I'll get to building a genuine scale Me209.

Thats only 4 or 5 years ago. Do you have an estimate of hours it took from start to ready to fly? I don't keep track of my build times because I would be disappointed in how long it actually takes me to complete a project.

Good subjects like this should last for decades. I am just glad I stumbled on to this one......those guys over at RCGroups sent me over here. I wonder how many model builders are actually aware of the 209 design?

Wish I could have had internet resources such as this when I first started building flying models in the early 70s.

Build On!

Terry
