Planning to attend. You should put up a panorama pic from the pilot station and let folks see the beautiful view they will be flying in front of.

Stellar!

I'll have to see if I can find one that does the field justice. Maybe Gomez has one somewhere.

Its to bad I don't have anything to race, I'm up in the SLC area and would have loved to check that field out.

jeffk464 , it would be great if you could come down, even if you don't race. It really is a good time. Maybe someone can come up with a plane for you to fly? Hope you can make it.

I have both Stilettos ready to run.
Made some changes and all I can say is: " I can't wait to fly the 115".

Looking forward to seeing it

Your 110 was uber fast, the 115 ought to break out easily

Can't wait to run against it

What types of engines do you have to run to be competitive. Could you compete with a 55AX proped for speed on something like the phoenix model Tucano with the wings clipped a little? It looks like a pretty sleek model and I'm assuming the Tucano counts as a RCpro warbird. I would also probably run no retracts but use q500 racing wheels to try and cut drag.

To give you an idea: A Phoenix Strega with a TT 46 and a pipe is competitive in the bronze class. The Tucano is a much cleaner plane.
Maybe Terry and Bert can chime in on it's legality. I took a brief look at the rules and it appears it is legal. As long as it meets the minimum 400 sq in.

I'm not sure how a 55AX compares to a TT46 on pipes, I just have the stock OS muffler and its kind of a torquey engine rather than a screamer. I think I would get a kick out or racing down their, but would like to pull it off without spending a ton on new gear. So finding the absolute cleanest airframe that would allow my 55AX compete can save me some serious cash over going with a YS 110.

According to what I can find, the RCPro rules state: "The only models qualified to be entered in a RCPRO Warbird event must be scale models replicating heavier than air, fixed wing, propeller driven, man carrying, military aircraft that were in production after January 1, 1937, or scale models of non-military aircraft that have raced in the unlimited category of the Reno or Mojave Air Races or in an unlimited air race affiliated with the Unlimited Air Racing Association".

The Tucano was first flown in 1980 and placed into service in 1983 and was used by the Brazilian Air Force, Egyptian Air Force, Argentine Air Force, Peruvian Air Force and the Royal Air Force. It is sold on Tower Hobbies under the Almost Ready to Fly Scale section and the wing area is good, so, from what I can see, it is legal to run.

I am currently running a TT Pro .61 with a stock pipe on a Kyosho P-40 and it is competitive, (well, it will break out in Bronze if I really push it). The wing and fuse on the P-40 is a little bulky compared to the Tucano so I would think that the .55 would be a good combo so........COME ON DOWN!!

Have to see if I can pull it off work wise and all but if all I have to do is slap my 55ax in a $150 tucano thats very doable. I do have a tower hobbies 46 muffler laying around somewhere, I've heard they give a decent boost to top end so I might have to give it a try.

I read some reviews on the tucano and people were saying it flies like a pattern plane, so if I buy the plane and can't make it it should still be a good all around flier.

Hey Jeff,

My friend Darren flew a World Models Voodoo with an OS 55 and it could break out in Bronze if pushed
That Tucano should be very competitive
Hope you can make the race, Always enjoy meeting new pilots

Blessings, Terry

I have a Kelly F1D with a OS 50 and stock pipe. Even though this is not a legal airframe, it is similar in engine size and cleaness of frame. I am quite confident the Kelly would easily break out in Bronze. I say, come down. It would be worth it to you as the races are awesome. Myself and a couple others went to Ogden a few years back to race Q500's and had a blast. The truth is almost all races are worth the trip. Good people and great times.

The O.S. 55AX works great in a Bronze plane . I Had one (still do ) in my moded PTS mustang and broke out whenever I was not paying attention to the time. Just pulled the baffle out of the stock muffler and ran a 10/6 APC prop on 15% and had a ball. Had the eng. for about 4 years on several airframes and still runs great.

Here is basically what you see coming around pylon 1. It's really a wonderful backdrop to fly against.

See what did I tell you? That Mustang has those dreaded colors in it and look closely at that rudder, or whats left of it.

Hey now BE NICE! That happened around pylon 2 and flew the rest of the day with it. Didn't even notice the lack thereof. I liked the below grade racing I was able to do with my Silver plane too.[X(]

Looking forward to see you guys again
