How many of you silver pilots are planning to run Gold? Sounds like Gold may have a few more heats next year.

I heard Mr. Trashman himself is going to make the jump to Gold. He has started to practice already.

If you are looking for the Engine mounts from Jason Vernon, you can call him at (760)718-9935. He told me to go ahead and put his number on here so anyone could contact him.

I want to say Thank You to everyone that attended the Trashman Classic Warbird Race conjunction with YS Engines. Special thanks to all the sponsors and workers that made this race happen!!!! We are already planning for next years Trashman race and planning on making it more successful then this year. Next years race is going to be called "Trashman & YS Classic Warbird Race".

I also like to say thank you to all the people that is saying all the great things about the race. My main goal was to make it a very smooth race and fun. Well it seams like we pulled both things off.

There are 3 guys that really helped me and supported me from planning the race to finishing the race and I really like to say thank you to: Richard from YS, Jim (Skids) and Mike Miller.

The results of the race and yearly final points is updated on our website - http://www.sacramento-rc-flyers.org/...standings.html

That practice thing sounds fun but I'm averaging 2 flights per plane. GLAD this season in history!

Question for you bronze or former bronze pilots:
What is the prop you run with your YS70?
Im figuring on 30-45% nitro
Airframe is a WM Miss America
Thx

I ran my YS 70 in the silver class on 50% nitro with a APC 12x12N in a home made 4.4 lbsTsunami. It was a great little engines and never gave any problems!

Yea I just ran the WM Stang with a cut 11x13 on 45% and hit a 2:12 at 3000 lus feet altitude
I just put a 12x12n on it and will go with that. Thx for the input.

Marty, and whomever wants to throw an opinion in here. How do you think a 115 would do with around a 12X15 CF prop on a mid 6 lb airplane?

Speed, that would not be my choice. I am running a bit more diameter.

Speed, The diameter really depends on the mass area of the spinner for the cowl. You want as much blade as possible to be outside the spinner. Some cowls (like a T6) are huge and others (like a Phoenix Models Strega) are tiny. Though pitch is great for forward air, so is the diameter over the nose configuration of the plane. I think Veranp pretty well showed that the 14x14 works quite well on that engine!! No reason to figure out what has been figured out. Again unless you have some skinny front end warbird Id go with the biggest diameter/biggest pitch at the highest recommended RPM range.

Thanks for the input guys. Marty, the airplane will be one of my Macchi designs. The cowl is the same as what is on the .45 2 stroke version. I wish you had seen the .61 version in action when I had all the bugs worked out. I think the aerodynamics are there as the .61 version used an 11x11. I guess my question was more geared to whether or not a 115 would spin a 12x15 or maybe even a 13x15 and keep in the 10,500 rpm range. Yes the 14x14 is working for Verano but on a large draggy airplane, if the goal is to beat him, it's not going to happen by following in his footsteps.

I think he is the easiest guy to beat there. He gets all 0's for breakin' out
Try the props and see. If you went with a Narrow version you could prob get close to 10,000 mark. Not sure about 10,500
Thats a lot of mass
Get some APC props and start widdling and see.
If I remember that Macchi is pretty slim up front so why not.
Im curious. If you have the clearance go for it.

I think I need to set up a test stand and start cutting some props now while the airplanes are being built. Once I have something that works I will have to pull some molds.
