Planes looking great, I think I raced that old bandit plane in Parker in 07

Have fun in Kansas Joe, I will miss that one.

When I was working in a hobby shop in the mid '80s I always wanted to fly F1. I even ordered up my Little Toni and ST X40. I was all set to buy it with my next paycheck and the day before I came back from lunch break and my boss had sold them. LOL. I never got around to getting another one. War bird racing has filled that long time desire, being able to design, make molds and then produce a competitive airplane has been a long time goal of mine.

Yep back in the 90's I bought a Bridi AT-6. But never did anything with it. So I gave it away.

I want to announce a new fun event at Rabbit 2014.
"Rabbit Speed Dash" Any legal USRA airplane can compete. 2 timed passes straight and level between pylons. Fastest airplane wins winner take all....$1000.00 bucks! That is correct $1000.00 Bucks!

APC is giving the prize money for the Rabbit Speed Dash. If your not an entered pilot for the race you can still join in for the Rabbit Speed Dash for a entry fee of $200.00. That money will also go into the winner take all pot. No telling how much money you can win!

You think you are the fastest? PROVE IT!!!!!!!

Info will be out soon on the Web and Facebook

I have a question about making A Legal USRA aircraft for racing. I checked many times at the USRA site on race classes and found that UNLIMITEDS and THOMPSON TROPHY CLASS are the only ones that have a list of approved planes, and they're specs on what size each part of the racer has to be at. THE QUESTION IS CAN ONE BUILD A APPROVED RACER DESIGN FROM/AND BY FOLLOWING THE EXACT SPECS AND THEN HAVE IT BE INSPECTED BY SOMEONE ON BEHALF OF USRA BEFORE THE NEXT RACE WEEK GETS NEAR ???

you can do that, if it is a pre approved mdel already on the list, and it will still need to be inspected and approved at the first race it is seen at. how ever if it is a new model the plans need to be submitted to the VP of the board and he will take your drawings and either approve them or reject them and get bcak to you. You will still need to have it final inspected at the first race it goes to and you will be issued a log book if it passes.

The log book for a racer, is it an actual aviator log book you have to buy from an airport or just a booklet the USRA issues? THANKS A BUNCH FOR YOUR ANSWER IT HELPS!

I'm looking for a few stock GT 80 intakes, gaskets, rings and an alcohol slide set up for my GT80 for the pro class. Anyone have something they are willing to sell?

log books are USRA issued for every approved plane in the championship series classes. No log books issued for Sundowners or 50cc warbird classes.

The Race at Rabbit will also feature a "Dash for Cash" event. Fastest plane on a straight and level between the pylons gets $1000. If you have a USRA approved plane, prop it, and run it. Should be awesome.

Do you think a plane will hit 300?

I personally dont how ever there are some pilots who think they can.
With a tail wind, right prop and enough niitro, anything is possible I guess.

Boy I was way off on what I heard. If I had 10-12,000 laying around I would build a plane to try for 250 then.

The issue is to get a special prop made ($300) just to run the speeds the engine is capable of. Id think 275 is very doable.

Cool. I still have fill out my entry forms. I'm going to be in Sportsman, GT 80 F1 and F1 pro if my planes survive testing.

Rabbits speed dash is just a couple weeks away.
Just got done racing and servicing smaller warbirds and am now getting the big boys ready to rumble.
I have a new DA170 modified for my lightened Stiletto. Did some retract testing yesterday to ensure there isnt too much draw on my new life bttys.
All looks good. Teams will start showing up on Wed to test and set up pits. Tech and practice starts on Thursday with racing going on Fri-Sun.
Come see some of the coolest large scale planes out there. Oct 10-12 Rabbit Dry Lake Bed near Apple Valley Ca.
There will be a speed run to see who has the fastest prop driven plane out there. Should be exciting weekend.
