Burt and the Cedar City club outdid themselves again, thanks for such a great event!!! Also, thanks to YS Engines for sponsoring the event and special thanks to Richard and Marty. We missed you Terry. Sorry you couldn't make it. The highlight of the race was a dust devil that come thru the pits and destroyed several EZ-ups and tore up a fuse that belonged to my brother in law. I was at the flight line when Burt called out the location of this dust devil. I landed the plane, turned around and I thought I was in Oklahoma again except there were no inbreeds running around describing the sound it made. I think it was a F-2. It was devastating but the race community pulled together and went on. Tony Lopez and Tanner Pacini put on a great show the last heat they flew. Racing at its best!!! My old nemesis, Marty, and I dueled it out in the last heat. He beat me only to find out he broke out by less than a second. I was on cloud nine because my time was a 1:30 and change, then the crushing news came, I cut. Moral of this story is we beat ourselves. Awesome racing Marty. "You can be my wing man anytime." Congrats to Tanner Pacini, Dan Kelly and Andy Yonker for taking first in their class. Congrats to myself, Bud Mellor and Dean Child for being 2nd (first losers). Hope all of you can make it to the Chino Valley, AZ race on August 16. Thanks again Cedar City!!!!!!

I just wanted to thank Bert and all of the Cedar City guys for putting on a great event. We all enjoyed the great close competitive racing. Thanks again to all of the people that helped, it made the event worth the long drive. Looking forward to attending again next year. You guys put on a great event.

Chris,
It was amzing seeing you guys unload that truck and what ll came out. The equipment you guys bring is incredible. The electric guys are a force that is here to stay. What really surprised me was how well they held up in the head wind. Congrats to Tanner, Dan and Andy. We had 2 new racers from Beaver and they loved it, so hopefully we are back to growing. We sure did miss the Hesperia guys. Next years race is set to be even better. As I walked the pits, I saw so many gorgeous planes, different sizes and styles. I sent the names of the winners to Richard at YSENGINES to get your discounted engine. Although Andy in Bronze and Tanner in Gold wont need them (electric guys) I may just get them for myself.

Lol, thanks guys. It really was a great time and I cannot say thank you enough to all of you for making it such a success. The club is more than thrilled to put this event together and it was so good to see everyone again. Here are a few pics of the day. I am still going through them since my wife took over 200 pictures and another guy from the club sent me over 500 pictures so I will get more of them out as soon as I can.

Jeff,
these elec guys are super fast no matter what the altitude. They run 2 big bttys in series to create just the right voltage they want based on motor, prop and break out time needed. They have it down to a science for sure. There are a few of us who can break out so it all comes down to cuts and low time. Its a blast racing with them, they are all great guys. If we cn get more gold racers we would have some great competition even more than it is now. i think we had 5 gold entries. We need 15 or 20, so be ready to be here next year

Thanks for the great pics, and all the support for us electric guys. Marty is right, we could use some more gold pilots. I encourage the silver guys to think about either moving to gold or racing both classes if you are able. I know Tony and Tanner Pacini will be attending this year and flying gold in the Chino Valley race next month on the 16th. Craig Pitcock and Ethan Hughes who currently fly silver will be flying gold also. If Marty, Tony Lopez, Steve Steward, Tony and Tanner Pacini, Craig Pitcock, Ethan Hughes and that good looking guy who won the point series last year (what was his name?) that would be 8. How great would it be if we had enough pilots to race 3 heats of gold!!! It would be terrible if the electrics won the point series in gold for the 4th year in a row. If you need a gold airplane, I will gladly loan you one of Marty Floods or Tony Lopez's.

I'm certainly looking forward to being back for the Chino race next month. To put it another way: I hope to get back in time, knock the rust off, and tame the 'red she-devil' on a downhill runway that always seems to have a strong crosswind. The added weight of the 10S upgrade is only likely to make that whole process more hair-raising than normal. She scares me, really. Ccorbitt, do you have a buddy box and and trainer cord?????????

Marty, I forgot you have other obligations so you won't make Chino Valley. You will be missed. You told me in Cedar City, I just forgot. I have a good memory, it's just short. Tony, I know that airframe has been good to you, however it has 460 square inches of wing and is topping the scales at 11+ pounds. Wonder why its a handful??? Tanner goes to a fetal position every time it's mentioned. For those out there who don't know this plane, it is a great plane if you keep it under 5 pounds. It is an Eflite B-Model mustang and the construction is superb on this ARF, with that being said, it was never designed to fly 150mph plus with a weight over 11 pounds. Now you have a better understanding why Tony refers to it as the red she-devil (AKA Donna). You know I am going to suffer for that one.
Anyone who is planning on racing gold in Chino Valley next month, will you please leave a reply so we have an idea as to the number. We are trying to get 3 heats of gold this year if at all possible. Thanks.....
