Two Minute Tango Warbird Race
October 26, 2014 is the Two Minute Tango Warbird Race
This race is a lot of fun. Dale runs the same rules as the SAM Warbird Rules but with a twist. All planes are racing at silver speed but at a breakout time of 2:00 instead of 1:55. There is elimination though out the race. If you have not ever race this race before, you got to come to this race as it is a fun race to fly in.
You can register online at www.sacramento-rc-flyers.org or mail it to Dale.
Contact Dale if you have any questions.

I managed to make it through the season with a Silver plane still fully intact; so I plan to be there. I've worked the event, but never competed in it. I'm very much looking forward to it!

My Feedback: (29)
14x13.5. I'm surprised the engine stayed with the airplane. Not sure what the actual cause was. Earlier in the day I had the mount come loose. I epoxied it back and added some screws between rounds. The following round went well with 14x13N and 30%. Made it into the trophy race and knew that 30% was not going to beat Mick and Mark. James Gale gave me a tank of 55% and I changed to the bigger prop. Mick and I were trading the lead back and forth. Virginia tells me I was leading when all I knew was the engine had quit. I had just thought I popped a plug. The look on her face when she retrieved the airplane said more was wrong. Upon inspection the front of the airplane is chewed up but worst is the stress damage to the wing. After pulling the engine I found that the needle valve assembly has vibrated loose, throttle arm was loose and the ratchet clip on the needle valve is gone.

Dang Shawn.
That is too bad. You may have been at the rpm limit of the prop. By APC math the 14" prop can only turn 13500 safely??
If you have not already started on the replacement airframe let me know, I may be able to donate some carbon fabric to the cause.

The 5.7 CF is what I was going to offer you. I got tired of buying a little at a time when I needed it, so I bought a bunch and got a pretty good deal on it. If you run a little shy let me know, you are only a couple days away by mail.

The carbon fiber is not really a sheet. What I have is 5.7 oz carbon fabric. I have some 40" wide, but if I can get the same deal again I am going to buy some 56" wide soon. I offered Shawn some because he cut a couple of foam wing cores for me.
Oh Yea - That reminds me. Hey Shawn, where the hell are my wings???
We are coming close to highjacking this thread. Shoot me a pm and I will see if I have what you need. If I don't have it I may know where to get it.

I was hoping you caught my smileys....
One thing I learned the hard way running APC props on ducted fan engines is to look for white stress marks on the prop blades near the hub. When they are near or over the safe rpm and you see the white stress marks, they usually throw a blade on the next flight. Ask me how I know that. Check your remaining blade.
How much does that engine unload in the air? I would guess 1000 or so??

I was turning about 10400 on the ground with 13.5x13.5 on that fuel, so I would have guessed around 10k as well. I must admit to feeling a little responsible having given you the fuel, I always enjoyed seeing red 5 out there she looked good.
