Hi Marty, Just wondering if you have heard back from the Fresno club yet? If you want to run down there and attend a club meeting or just check things out let me know. You can come to my house here in Sacto and I can drive us from there.

Thx Dave,

I have heard an initial response that sounded favorable, but no follow up yet.
Also the Tulare club is looking promising too.
I hope to make an announcement ealry in 2015.

I dont think I can make it for the 10 hr drive, but if anyone was willing to go to the site we dicide on prior to announcing it and verifying it is safe to race at , That would be great.

Something just landed on my roof. I thought it was Santa but it turned out just to be another pigeon. Guess I'm just going to have to order it myself. Sheesh!

Merry Christmas to all my racing friends old and new. Have a safe holiday season and see ya at the races.

Dan

P.S. Thanks again Santa

Don't feel bad, Dan . . . Looks like I was on Santa's "Naughty List", too!

Merry Christmas.

Just thought everyone would want to see what your winning trophy will look like (this is a close sample to the actual)
There will be an additional top piece ontop of the cup that says 1st, 2nd or 3rd with a round insert in with the phrase
Warbird Championship Race

Not too sure I like it. It's a bit big and it's going to be some work finding room for it in my living room.

Marty,
Jim is right, I will help as much as possible. I Just can not commit to anything in stone at this point in time until I find out what stands in front of me in the near and I mean near future.

Nice Marty. The plaques make good kindling for my wood burning stove, but this one......looks like it will hold a whole six pack LOL. Seriously though I agree it could be maybe half the size, but hey! Who's complaining. Happy and Safe New Years to all.

I agree with Dan, I have enough Plaques to built a cabin. Nice to see something new. I like the ones Dale and Amy made for the 2 minute Tango, It is the only one I have displayed in my shop.

The only question I have is how do you hang it on the wall?

Speed, I'm up for that, but I'll need to bring the 2nd's and 3rd's out of storage if this is a competition. The wall only gets the first place awards (there is one 2nd place hanging in there to remember a dear friend that I lost too that isn't with us).

Marty.... since this is a championship trophy should there only be ONE per class? We could hang the runner up names in the ladies room (just quoting Top Gun).

I want these as big as possible. It will be more about the trophy and what it represents than anything else. Although our great Race Sponsor YS is donating 3 engines to the top finishers of each class, And Horizon Hobby is donating a Tx and helping me with a bunch more prizes for the course workers, and APC's support, I still want it to be about the trophy and what it represents - your incredible accomplishment. It is only 3' tall guys so if you are confident in your skill set, pack your race rigs accordingly. If you show up, win and complain about not having room for it, that just means you didnt think you would win it and didn't prepare for its place among your things. I for one will have a spot set aside in my motor home just for it.

I think most will agree we appreciate all the plaques, but after having all those plaques who wouldn't want a rather large trophy?
Keep in mind this is to be Nats type event, not to diminish any other races we all attend, but this is to be the grand daddy of them all.
I am wanting to have a dinner catered Sat night. Possibly a "speed dash" with a radar gun to determine who has the fastest plane also awarded with a trophy or a plaque, if I have any funds left over. A follow up article in MA Magazine with photos of the winners. I mean who wouldnt want their picture in a magazine or on the front page of the newspaper?

Skids
That is funny, unless it ends up being me. Then it is not.

FYI I am hearing of some guys "planning" on building special planes just for this event. Taking this to another level.

JR you have to be there. Arrange your future to compensate for this late race. It wouldnt be the same w/o you.
