Marty will this be like the Stanley cup where each years winners name will be on it and passed around each year?

you will see a whole new level of planes for this since there isnt any break out. i bet we will see some planes around 199 MPH....

Jeff

No the trophy wont be passed around for fear of losing the trophy

There is break outs - Same as Sams B/Os, not sure where you heard there wasnt?

Somewhere down the line Id like to see a Platinum Class w/o break out. This will likely have to be at a Dry lake bed where we cn meet the set back needs for safety.

Here is the final set up of the trophy I ended up deciding on:
This has a top pc that says 1st, the second, third will have their numbers on as well and be slighly smaller.

I am wanting to do a speed dash for cash
Fastest plane on level gets the money
This should bring out some custom prop set ups, maybe even Jeff will build his 40 size Tsunami with a YS 185 turning a 24X20

The props are what is going to be the hurtle here. I'm going to start out with a 14.5X14.5 and trim the dia. until I get the desires rpm. The Macchi has already flown with as small as a 9" prop. I can see a 11.5 X 14.5 working. Would be worthless for racing but may work for a speed dash. The speed dash airplanes are subject to the same rules correct? We don't want some guy showing up with an FAI job and posting 220 mph. Perhaps requiring it to be the same airplane you had raced with?

I will be using my GS Racer as it does 230 on the course. It should be good for around 245 on straight and level.

No just kidding Shawn. Yes these will be warbird race legal planes only. Feel free to prop and fuel as necessary.

I will be looking at a 16X14 on 75%. I will be looking for 188 mph.

Unless I miss my guess, the plane to put the prop on may be the larger hurdle here??

Planes are coming along, last wing panel is in the baq now, then I can start with tips. Having a non heated garage and having an airplane that is mostly composite is really slowing things down.

Nice Wall Mr. Skids. That trophy would look nice right out in front.

The "Dash for Cash" event will be ttempted on Sat after the racing is done and will be as follows.....
- you must use the plane you entered as your primary or back up, and it must be inspected and deemed race ready for the regular contest
- each pilot will be granted 2 passes in any direction of your choosing. No exceptions.
- must be level crossing the start/ finish line
- fastest of either pass is what you use for your time, not your average.
I am not against additional incentive programs between pilots for this event

We will have to observe a ceiling regulation if there is an airport close by.

There will only be one entry per person and one class, not three.

Jeff,

Last I heard (around Christmas time) they pushed it out a bit to ensure the software speeds of communication were correct at this new speed the droid system is putting out, and they hoped still to have it by Spring. Not sure who will have the best price, but it is expected to sell for around $2700.

I got 2 firm Yes answers from 2 clubs (talked to the pres of one and vp of the other). also got a yes from another and the verdict is still out on the 4th.
Needless to say we are looking really good to have the race.
My hopes are to keep it in Central Cali to cater to all the racers. Guys I am getting many confirmations of racers from RCPRO who are coming. I have started a race flier and an entry form already on my pc. I will get this into the public via RCU as well as the warbird championship race page on face book. Once I decide on which race site meets the needs we have I will finalze this and start getting you the info. I encourage everyone to try and camp at the site we choose so we can get more acquainted with each other and enjoy the after racing activities I am planning. I know not every one has a camper or trailer or RV, but it will be worth sticking around. I am thinking of asking someone to develope a night tme pylon race using some sort of electric fliers and lit up pylons set around 100' apart. I am looking at a Sat night BBQ, Speed dash and more. This will be a great event. I so want to see everone there. Id like to open entries up to more than 70, but dont see it happening.

Installed the pitot speed sensor system in my Stiletto today. Now I will know exactly what speeds each prop produces .
I love the JR DMSS Telemetry options of their radios.
I will be installing one on the Vendetta as well after initial testing from the Stiletto is complete.
I will be testing props for the speed dash competition at the race.

Sounds good Marty. I too will do the same. Sorry you had to spend the money as I could have saved you the trouble as we clocked your plane at the last race. You were doing 107.12 MPH on the course. Might want to go ahead and bump the nitro from the 60% your running now to 65%
Hey, Just trying to help.
