Dan
I plan on the race in Utah if Im not working out of state. Unfortunately that is the last race Im gonna make unless something happens and PHX or Tucson opens up for me. The other venues conflict with my schedule.
The WM and the 115 are a great combo. I used to race those in Gold a few years back. It will be a great Silver plane on 20% and a 13x13 prop or a 13.5x13.5 on 30% that will give you extra speed for a blown start or longer laps if wanted.

Got to fly the new Phx Models Strega again today
Winds light and variable around 10-12 MPH
I moved the 1200 mah life btty directly behind the fuel tank and flew it.
It acted tail heavy still but was "dull" while turning so it isnt.
I decided I was over propped for 6000.
Once it was up to speed and on the course it flew super.
Trimmed and tracked as good as any ARF out there.
I cut my APC down another 1/2" and reshaped the tip trailing and leading edge. i am certain to gain the needed RPMS at my altitude.
All this is still on 30%
Cant wait to fly it at lower elev and see what she does
I also flew my new vendetta on 30% dang its a rocket

Got the 3rd flight in on the strega.
Flew awesome and got the rpms I needed.
After landing and during the post flight inspection I noticed the Landing Gear were starting to bend where they are notched for the suspension travel area. I pulled the struts only out and replaced them with some thick wire gear I had laying around.
Should be ready to race. FYI either hobbico or WM gear should bolt right in. I had to dremel a small area for the coiled part of my wire gear.
Flies sweet and has no bad tendencies at all.
CG about 4.25" instead of the called 5".

Ollie,
It is bronze speed.
Here at 6000 I was only running 30% and it was 2:30 or so.
I wont be flying this in Warbird racing. It is more for club racing and fun flying. We have a class that it will fit perfectly for here locally.
I have my hands full racing Gold with all that goes into that and then calling for others. Not enough time in between rounds for me. Takes the fun out of it.

Racers,
I have fielded some responses with a misunderstanding of the rules:
first; radios dont have to be 2.4 (although I strongly recommend it as there wont be a freq control system as far as a board or Tx impound.) we will have to make sure there are no conflicts.
second; I strongly encourage rx batteries to not be lipo. Life would be fine, as would Nimh or even Nicad. Cali is dry and we dont need fires.
Again these arent enforced rules but will be looked at closer as we get closer.
Looking forward to seeing some of you end of June up in Redding at Lorens race.

Ok racers... Some questions and confusion have rise as far as the dash for cash event at this race. The rules will be as follows: Your plane used must be inspected and entered either as primary or back up for the race event. Any fuel, any APC prop. Mods such as cutting, shaping or twisting are acceptable. We want fast speeds so lets go get them. We also want to thank Robert at APC for his donation cash prize to the winner, so any prop used must be purchased from APC and available to the general public. I am sorry if my lack of promptness has caused you confusion, please let this post put all those to rest. The speed dash is not a required event. You dont have to enter it. I personally will be using a std prop cut down and twisted to the best of my ability. I have no pitch guage and am not an aero engineer. Ill do my best with what I have.

Hi Marty. Hope all is well and you get to make the Utah race. I'm looking forward to getting out of 100+ temps and seeing Utah again. I've got a question for you. You posted props can be cut down and twisted. I can cut them down easy enough. That happens a lot when I land, but how do you twist them? Just curious. Never heard of it before.

Marty, I am trying to line up the schedule and there's only a 2.589% chance I will be able to attend this wonderful event. However, if Dan Kelly is going to be there the rules MUST have an special provision requiring he utilize only "pusher props" on his airplanes! That's the only way I will stand a chance against him and all swimmers know I need all the help I can get!
Are these the rules (2102842[/IMG])?
No "sparky" (i.e., primarily electric motor propelled) airplanes?
Thanks pal, Dean

Thanks for the Fish Fry Dino. As for your chances, I pulled the YS110 off and put a used Saito 92 on the plane to slow down for ya. Maybe we can fly formation and block the rest of the field?
Looking forward to Cedar City Race. Scott will probably move up to Silver and I'll step down and keep you honest ha ha.
Dan.
P.s. NO ELECTRICS.

Dan,
Some people heat them up using various methods, and twist each side equally to increase the pitch at the desire location of the blade. Some like a little more pitch in one area than the stock so they increase it there. I dont own a pitch gauge, so all I could do is to twist it and trace it on paper and see if both sides match. Im just taking a APC prop and gonna cut it down and reshape the trailing edge and try that. Others will take it to a much more extreme method. Im all for what ever people do. Im very curious to see if we can actually hit 200 MPH as many are claiming. Should be fun. Hope to see you there Dan.
And Gomez, Dan says he can take you with a paper plane. He says a reigning world champ is always easy to beat.

I'm loving it Marty. Won't be using it on the WM Mustang in Cedar city but I will have it on the Me109. Flew it today with the Saito 92 on it and it's right on Breakout for Bronze. Flies like it's on rails at
the slower speed. I added a tow line so I can pull Dean along in 2nd place. I'll probably fly the Mustang in Silver with reduced Nitro. Still not use to the Speed yet.
Boy the fish and chips in Kingman were awesome. Do they have fish in Utah?
