Show your stuff
Now that SAMs has published their schedule and Marty has thrown down the gauntlet for all warbird racers to compete for the King of the hill honors it looks like 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for racing. Makes me curious to see what else is shaping up as in airplanes we will be seeing. So guys show your stuff, what can we expect to see this year? Anyone who knows me will also know that I will be flying a Macchi. Much like last years model but with a couple refinements. Key changes are more strength pretty much everywhere, a couple moment changes and I am going to try skin hinges on elevator and rudder. Construction is winding down and glassing/painting will start soon.

Trixie is gonna love this "new ride" for 2015 . . . it's a Pineapple Upside-down Cake martini.
Oh yeah,
. . . and I have been finishing 3 SAM Outlaw racers while recouping from my surgery the last week; and will go back to working on my 3 new P-47s when I get back to working on the "big stuff", again. Will post pictures when I can. Happy New Year to you and the family, Shawn!

If memory serves me correctly that American P-51 was powered with a British engine right? Well I'm an open book and will be just as fast. Just seeing some fruit from a project. The round wing tips were such a pain to do in balsa so the obvious step was going composite with them. Finally got the first set bagged up.

Shawn, Shawn, Shawn,
Yes ...but that engine needed a good air frame and found it here on these shores. It ws the "high altitude" power fix the P51 needed to serve as a bomber escort against the German Airforce. Who wouldnt love a RR?
Remember guys, this speed dash is for any legal and registered plane you bring. I am hoping for some decent cash for this event on Sat.
I am suspecting any in cowl engine to be a good prop efficient power performer. Sorry Shawn, that engine hangin' out plane of yours could still be used for a pace plane or something.
Trash is officially out on the curb guys.

Mike,
If you were closer, I'd suggest you come fly with us, and I'd make you one, personally. Cocktails are just my way to thank the workers for all they do for us pilots; as well as to thank all the out-of-town pilots for coming and helping to make our events so special. But beings I'm not likely to persuade you to take that significant a trip, I'm PM-ing you with the recipe. Enjoy!
I try to concoct a new "winning" drink recipe for everyone each year, just like Shawn tries to concoct a new winning recipe for his "Macchi 5", each year. (Shawn, if you were racing in my class this year, I'd tell you that my new drink would be the one "winning recipe" you would experience this year. But I can't talk any more smack to you, 'cause I'm rooting for ya!)

Awe come on Marty! You don't wanna be out in front a half a lap ahead of everyone else do you? That would be like flying in the Bronze class waiting for everyone to catch up. Share some of that top secret stuff. The cheap stuff though so some of us poor folk can at least have a chance LOL. Oh yeah.....I really like your paint booth. I could sure use that log in the pix in my wood burner .

I like being out front as it tends to lead to fewer mid airs. By the way that is a 55 gl trash can turned uoside down, not a log.... lol
I need all the help with speed I can get as I get older I tend to day dream more while I am flying, and all these new kids on the block are gettin' harder to stay in front of these days.
When I show up to a race I always share all my secrets, even in my set ups, Except for Shawn, cause right now we are trash talking to keep this thread alive. When that is done, we will be friends again.

all this is so touching.... It has inspired me to write a little poem
Tell no secrets, tell no lies
Instead we must all take to the skies
With the wind under our wings and nitro burning our eyes
We all must turn left and fight for the prize
For at the end of the day we will all watch Speed as he cries
OK, so it's not perfect. But is does add to the "trash" talk and at least it isn't a video of gun swinging children shooting poor unarmed Spitfires.
