We are pleased to announce Ritch's Brew has joined our race as a sponsor for 2016.
Thanks to Randy for his help with this race
He is not only one of our sponsors he plans to race as well. Randy was the AMA Nats Pylon over all champion last year.
He also said he can have any fuel you racers might need at the event so you dont have to haul it.
Go to his web site and order what you need:
http://ritchsbrew.com/
We couldnt do this w/o all our great sponsor, YS Engines, APC , Ritch's Brew, Waymire Decaling

Marty, This is good news regarding Ritch's Brew! Also, just a heads-up to those who send in registration. I sent mine in weeks ago and my card has yet to have been charged. I hope they received the letter.

I have asked to be tied to the registration loop so I can list the names of those entered and in what class so they can all be in the know.
Seems your registration was not allowed due to a conflict with another AMA event being held at the same time. Some sort of "swimming contest".... you are believed to be the leader of that event???

We have received great response for entries to this new Nats event for 2016.
Understanding July is still a ways out, and things can change, here is what we are hearing as far as entries go so far.
Cali area- 10 pilots most in 2 classes (20)
Nv area - 7 most in 2 classes (14)
Ut area - 3 maybe 5, some in 2 classes (6)
Q40 pilots - 15 most in one class - (15)
other areas who have ordered planes and engines - around 12
As you can see we are quickly climbing to over 45 pilots with entries over 65 .
It will be great if this stays at this level.
Get your entries in early so the AMA sees this class of racing for what it is.
We will register and practice Friday July 15 up til noon. Racing starts Fri after noon, and then all day Sat.

Hi Guys, I just wanted to put this out there so you would all know what we have planned for the Nats. Making a long trip like this one can be very costly and surly not everyone can afford the 6-7 day of travel alone from work or family. So I will be offering to transport your planes and some equipment so you can simply fly in Race and Fly out. Believe me when I say I know what is costs to ship airplanes and some support equipment. Here is what I am offering:
Each person interested can bring up to but not more than (4) race planes, Support essentials, Shade pop up, (1) Costo style table, Small ice chest, Small generator. The fee will be $300.00 per guy. For this your planes and equipment will be transported fully assembled in stands I will provide in my large trailer. It will be YOUR Respodsibility to deliver them to me and to pick up when we return. I plan to arrive a couple of days early to settle in and get used to the humid climate.
However we will require you to have everything ready to reload on Saturday evening after the conclusion of the event so we can leave on Sunday morning for Home.
If interested please get with me at the SAM race on 4/10/2016 as spots will fill quickly.
Thank You!
Dave

Dave,
That is awesome of you to offer that - thank you for stepping up.
If we all work together we can handle the logistics successfully.
Many of the racers are just doing warbird (probably 6-10 guys)
while some of them are doing the Q40 stuff later in the week, probably the same amount who aren't.
Between Jeff, and Dave offering to haul, this should handle most of the needs. I would assume, there are even a couple groups who will do their own hauling as well.
Some will motor home it and stay at the site so they will be self sufficient.
Others as Dave mentioned, would want to fly.
Again thanks to both Dave and Jeff for stepping up.
I am personally throwing around the idea of Warbird -Fri and Sat, EF1 - Mon, 426 -Tue and Wed, 422 - Thur and Fri.

Hold off on the batteries.
I have some that are awesome. But I need to get to utah to weigh them and make sure they are legal. If they are, I think they will be the ones to use. 50c discharge and 3400 mah. According to their specs they are like 10 grams over weight from the EF1 rules, but I may be able to cut the long charge leads down to legal weight. Ill let ya know. I have 2 already I use for another plane.

Anybody flying pogo's needs to remember to put on the wing tip extensions to make the wing area legal. I am pretty sure this is enforced at the NATs.

I'm not going to be at the Nats to defend my title, but I was wondering what is the "preferred" fail safe setting? I like to go gear down with surfaces level and engine to idle. I've yet to have my DMSS equipment ever go into fail safe though. (just curious since I read your posting)
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
Fail safe is mostly the throttle setting going to off rather than flying around wide open.
Most tech inspectors will have you turn on both plane and TX and then shut off Tx and verify the throttle moving to off position.
I personally would prefer to set my fails safe with gear in the locked up position rather than the down to avoid extra damage if possible.
I bind all my rx- tx with the throttle at off position.
