Warbird Racing at the Nats

Good information Marty, I prefer idle and gear down for only one reason, if the plane goes into temporary lock out the combo gives me a visual (gear going down) and allows for the motor to keep running if contact is regained. As for less damage.... if it goes in during fail safe gear up or down the extra damage is not going to be a concern for me, it is usually a total loss.

I got a hit from the AMA on my CC so I guess they got my entry fee.
If they provide me with a list I will post it other wise check your CC statements to see if you are registered.
Other criteria to remember:
Have name and AMA # in all planes
Have fail safe (throttle) activated on all planes- this will be checked
--you turn on tx, and the plane and then shut tx off - throttle should move to off
I am not required to enforce the FAA identification rule at this time, but you are required by the FAA to comply.
Remember to reserve your spot under the tent if you are not bringing your own awning.

Jeff,
We will fill in where the pattern guys before us empty out I believe is what Dan K told me. They are suppose to end on Thursday. Friday is a "rain" day for them if it should rain on one of their days of competition. When they empty out we will begine to fill in. I dont necessarily know if you can reserve an "exact" spot, but you can for sure reserve a dimension and then team up. Ex: Us JR guys can all get together and decide what we would need and just reserve enough spots to group up.

Also the link for the tent reservation isnt up yet I think. When it is seen lets report it on here or the Warbird Nats FB page so everyone knows.
I suggest all of the racers figure out who they want to pit with and get with that group and make the reservations when you see the link come up. Remember, you can bring your own EZ ups as well. Bring your own tables and chairs too.
Ill keep updating as I see stuff valid of updates.

Here is the link to register for the Nats Warbird:
Remember it is the unofficial event form
http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/2...sentryform.pdf
There is also another link under registration and if you scroll down to the pylon events you can see how many are registered for warbird racing already - so far 8.
Lets get those registrations in !!

Once again as a reminder to all involved to help support our great sponsors who help support us in what we love to do:
YS Engines
http://www.ysengines.us/
APC Props
http://www.apcprop.com/
Ritch's Brew
http://ritchsbrew.com/
I would also like to ask anyone considering to come to the Nats to think about joining the NMPRA .
nmpra.org
This is the organization that helps pylon racing of all variables all across the country. They Are also the group that gave us the invite to come to the Nats.
They are The Official Pylon organization we should all support.
We couldnt have this race without any of the above groups.

It will be most wonderful to reserve a spot under the Big Top! I look forward to the link being posted with much anticipation and excitement to be sure. I hope Ritch's Brew will be bringing some jugs of 100% NITRO for purchase to the event as well, my friend. Yes, yes. Many thanks to you for the failsafe bind reminder as well. I usually just bind mine at full throttle, neutral control surfaces. If I lose it, I don't want it anyway and go for distance. However, for this event, of course it will be compulsory to bind in the way you suggest, most certainly.

It will be a blast Pal, Not many racers have the fun we do, and certainly none trash talk like our group.
If any one needs fuel brought to the race remember to call Randy or Email him and he will have it there for you.
100% yes Dean that will work well in your Red Tail.

It was brought to my attention that there is an article in the MA magazine referring to the 2016 AMA Warbird Nats as a RCPRO event. Please note this is not an RCPRO event. The article was incorrectly printed.
I only bring this up because RCPRO allows electrics to race with nitro and they have eliminated the use of the eng and wing chart restrictions.
The 2016 Warbird Nats will not allow electrics in with nitro and we WILL enforce the eng/wing chart restrictions.
If anyone asks please help us clear up this confusion
Thx

Ritch's Brew Contact???
Does anyone know how to gt in touch with Ritch's Brew? I have attempted e-mail, in vain, over the last few weeks and that has not yet resulted in a response I am aware of. The "Contact Us" link doth not worketh on the website! Just trying to get a leg up (i.e., plan) on fuel. I'm hoping the guy is just vacationing in the Mediterranean or something.

Dave and others,
Don sent me an email and stated the editors of the MA changed the wording. His original text didnt include the RCPRO part of the nats event itself. Im on the road and havent seen the actual article yet, but have been informed of the mistakes made by "printing" dept of MA, as stated by Don.
Im not worried about it. I would ask that any questions that come up come to me and not the warbirdnats web address Don used in the article. I have asked him to not use that as an info hub, and that I will use RCU, NMPRA and Facebook to get all info out there.

All, I received confirmation from Jay Smith the editor of the AMA magazine that in fact it was an AMA mistake.
The numbers for Warbird racing look very promising. Keep them coming in.

I read the article and know that many California racers have as well. With or without the typo the article does a whole lot to promote this fun type of racing that offers something for everyone interested in racing and Warbirds. As a long time racer at SAM (Sacramento Area Modelers) using a very similar race format to what will be used at the NATs I would like to encourage everyone to give it a try. Also (prepare for a shameless plug here) for those that are on the West Coast that just can't make it to the NATs, SAM will be holding a HUGE race to finalize it's season on September 10th and 11th where we will have some of the best (if not the best) Warbird racers in attendance. Last year the event hosted nearly 60 entries with sponsorship from APC, JR Americas, and YS Engines. This year's YS Trashman Classic should be even larger! OK hopefully harmless plug over.
Thanks,
Jimmy Skids
