Well i had everything in the plane all mocked up, and looking pretty good. Then I discovered my Hyde soft mount had issues (it was in a crash). I ended up having to order a new one, and was fortunate to get one, these are soon to be obsolete guys - better get one if you use these.
I have now begun the painter role of the build.
I started with some tri stock to build up for the tail section, then used a bit of glue and some spackle, and also put some on the lower cowl cheek to create a much tighter gap. Will sand tomorrow and wrap up the wing dis-assembly so I can make sure surface is primer ready on it.
Then I will try to get it in primer this week before I leave back out of town and hopefully get down to painting color in June.

Got some more done- the wing fillets are now in the main wing. I first put down saran wrap and then I used the roll of fillet material you can get from Tower and laid that down as a base. Then I cut out of 1/16 ply the rear section and ca those in to place. Then I cut 3/4 oz cloth and mixed up finishing resin with micro balloons and brushed it over the top surface. Once dry I will remove and cut and final sand to shape and fill if necessary and then I am ready for primer.

Thanks Flyer
The first one built by Jeff was definitely fast... Mine has some rookie build issues. I noticed a few things I'm trying to fix best I can now after the fact.
The fuse is not perfectly straight and true. I built it on a table with drop ceiling tiles. My next one will be on a door or piece of glass with ceiling tile. Plus I pulled my frame work out to sand leading edge doublers at times when i shouldve left it in and sand them. I thought for sure I was holding it down tight and square, but you HAVE to have a true flat surface and build these things correctly. I have learned a ton and am not ashamed of my mistakes and wanted this thread up so others who might want to try scratch building can see these mistakes and still know its ok to try the art of kit building. It is a scary thought to do this if you havent, but its all doable if you have help. I hope this thread is a bit of help.

Finally !!!
Got the plane in Primer.
Went to auto body shop and got some good filler primer (cause I'm a Rookie kit builder) and some single stage white. Got the first tack coat of primer on and let it dry, then put another coat on and sanded it lightly once dried. I looked for major blemishes and extremely ugly eye soars and filled those , sanded and then re-primed a second time.
When I return in a couple weeks I will lightly rough up the primer and then put the final color on it.
Glad I dont have to monokote this thing

Thx Ollie, Definitely not Redding, but the Nats are a real goal. Your posts on your build thread have really help understand some of the processes so thank you for taking time to do what you do.
I have the My Vendettas ready for Redding.
Looking forward to seeing all you No Cal guys up there. I have a So Cal friend who promised to come call for me, who flies some Italian plane with a upright mounted 4 stroke. Hoping to see a great gold filled class and fun filled weekend.

Got the bulk of the painting process done today:
Base white, then blue paint and final silver paint, then the decals and hopefully tomorrow I can clear it.
After that will be the reassembly process which should be very easy.
My painting is near flawless, but my prep work was not very good. Your painted product is only as good as the prep work. I spent a lot of time filling and sanding, but didnt get all the many smaller issues.
But at 180 MPH who is gonna notice, right !!

Thx Flyer,
I opted to clear it this evening so I wouldnt have to mess with any more cleaning or wiping and it can have all night to gas out.
It turned out pretty good.
I'm glad the build is now "officially" over and the assembly can begin.
I'm starting to get excited at this stage in the build, as I know I could very well be maidening this next week.
I actually enjoyed the glassing/painting process so much, that I stripped one of my oldest Vendettas fuse down and am gonna glass/paint it before the Nats. I left the wing monokoted as it is still in decent shape.
This is my loaner plane to Randy Ritch to fly in gold. It has won many races and he will do great with it, as I just got the engine freshened up by YS Engines.
I am hoping it weighs under 8.5 lbs after the primer, paint and clear.
