Important information (Please Read)

Don't forget that you are welcome to come out and setup for the race anytime after 5:00 pm on Wednesday (9-7-16). Please do not setup or bring your recreation vehicles before that time. This will allow our members fly before I close the field down to the public. I reserved the field for the racers and volunteers only to be able to fly from Thursday thru Sunday.

I will be there at 5:00 pm (Wednesday) to open the gate.

We will not have enough tables for everyone so you might want to bring a table and cover just in case the tables are taken before you get there. I am thinking if you are not there Thursday, there will be a chance at that point that you will need your own table and cover. All added covers can be setup right behind the pits on the parking lot.

If you have utilities trailers that you are hauling equipment in, you will be able to leave the trailer next to the pits.

Awesome for all those watching this thread but don't race you should build a plane and come race. We have a lot of big names racing some are 7 time world champions. If you ever wanted to fly with these guy now is the chance and the play field is even as anyone can win. Even if you don't want to race yet come and watch as it is awesome hearing these planes fly around the course and always close racing.

After a conversation today with JR I agreed to do tech inspections on all airplanes. I will have a shade tent set up in the parking lot just behind the pits on Friday. I need to do a quick inspection of all primary airplanes before racing starts on Saturday. The more we can get done on Friday, the better but I will be available Saturday morning as well.

That is a rather impressive list of competitors.

I wonder, is there another venue that draws this level of attention and quality of competitors?

Keep at it Man of Trash. Bravo.

In Q40 one of our races it was cut off at 87 pilots this year with 14-15 on the waiting list. I do see warbirds soon to eclipse that.

Q40, compared to Warbirds.......I fail to see the significance of comparing the two.

I suppose I should have specified "Warbird Racing Venue" for those that are easily confused.

Roy on the other hand may have made a more general reference.

Have Roy explain it to you Tommy. However it does illustrate the need to register promptly .

With the rate of growth of the Trashman and YS Classic, I am thinking about making this a 3 day race starting next year. With making it a 3 day race with 2 rounds per day, I will be able to add 29 more entries making it a 104 maximum enties including 20 maximum in Bronze vs 15 currently. I will make this decision and announce it by the end of the Trashman race this September. This will allow all of you to make plans 1 year in advance.

At the race, i will be handing ballots out to each pilot to see what you guys overall would like to do. It will be either leave it as a 2 day race or change it to a 3 day race. Remember, the only reason i am talking about this is to try and allow more pilots into the race. With calculating the number, the only way to increase entries above 75 is a 3 day race.

If you have any comments on this, I would love to hear your thoughts as this is a big step and possibly taking this race to a whole new level.

Thanks,
JR

You're a madman JR.
When you do finally burn out on all this, I hope someone will pick up the torch and do just half as well as you have done in organizing the craziness that is a warbird race.
The Big Kahuna would pat you on the back in approval. I'm quite sure of that.

Just a friendly reminder...............

With the amount of pilots for this race, we will run out of room as far as pit tables. On the safe side, you might want to bring a table, shade and extension cord for yourself just in case the tables are full when you get there. I will have a big portion of the parking lot right next to the pits open for canopy's and tables only. Like I mentioned before, if you have a smaller utility trailer that you are hauling your stuff in, you will also be able to park it in the pit area in the parking lot. (I hope this does not cause any issues as I am trying to make it easier on everyone)

Also, please no campers, RVs, 5th wheels and trailers before 5:00 pm on Wednesday (9-7-16). And no saving tables before 5:00 pm on Wednesday (9-7-16). I will open the gates at 5:00 pm as I know that some of you are showing up right at 5:00 pm.

I will try to guide you as you come in so we can keep the parking in some sort of order to make sure that everyone has a good place to park. If you could, please check in with me before you set up your camper, RV, trailer or 5th wheel so that nobody has to move after you set it up.

Sorry to be so strict on this but I have to accommodate the general members since I am closing the field for 4 days for the racers and volunteers.

Who will be able to fly during the 4 days (9-7-16 after 5:00 pm thru 9-11-16) ???
All registered pilots, pilots that are on the waiting list and any volunteers that is on my workers list.

Please help me out and spread the word about all this so everyone is informed and has no surprises.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at (916) 705-7778.

This will be a great and fun weekend!!!!! I am so looking forward to seeing you all and beating all the Silver guys .......

Thanks in advance for your cooperation
JR

Just need to secure the receivers, install and plumb the fuel tank, and she's ready for test flights in preparation to back up my P-40 and KI-84 for this last race of the season. With any luck, I won't need to use it in competition....

Well,
I won nothing. Lost two planes.
The new Spitfire in practice to an electrical power failure. The P-40, in racing to a mid air.
All my planes were both plenty fast. To the tune of a 1:27 breakout with the KI-84 in a race on Sunday. The Spitfire and Warhawk were both faster than the Frank.
I just didn't get my stuff together well enough and suffered a little bad luck.
In spite of all that. All I can say is, BEST FREAKING RACE EVENT EVER!
Well done to the organizers and workers. Can't happen without you all.
And the contestants were all top notch in all aspects.
Congratulations to all the winners for the event and the season.
Hope to see you all next year.

I just wanted to say a couple things about the race.

Thank you to all the workers and all the pilots that were there. The race was a success because everyone worked together and everyone did what they needed to do.

As we see the Trashman & YS Classic Warbird Race grow every year, we are going to take next one to a whole new level and make it a 3 day race and try and max it out with a 104 entries. I am working on the format of the 3 day race and will let everyone know when I get it figured out and set. Please spread the word and let everyone know as it will be only 1 year from now. The date will be set and announced in December after the S.A,M. board approves the dates.

Remember, next year we are starting the series if you race Bronze, you will not be able to race any other class. This will allow the new pilots or pilots that do not have the reaction time anymore to be able to compete and a chance to win.

Thanks again and I will be looking forward to next year when we all get together on the Big Kahuna Race!!!
