Default Does anyone want to see video of the next Warbird race at SAMs?

The Sacramento Area Modelers are having their first Warbird race of the year this next weekend.

Does anyone in here want to see any video clips from this race?

Hey Mr. Clean,

The day of the races looked pretty bad for weather so I didn't take a camcorder with me.
As I didn't expect the races to happen I also neglected to take all my repair equipment with me.
Well, I screwed up! The day turned out just fine with the nasty rainy stuff happening only after the racing was well over.
One of the other club members did get some vids of the day and I plane to get the tape from him and upload it later.
Sorry.

The weather did have an effect on the day as the crew from Minden / Gardnerville didn't make it and there were many bronze and gold racers that were absent.

I guess the silver racers were the true stalwarts with 15 in that class alone.

By the way, it's really unnerving to have an aileron servo go out on you part way through a race!
Especially when it's your FIRST race of the season! No more Hitec 475HBs for me!
Thankfully I was able to replace the bas servo for the next heat and my flying smoothed out a bit after that.
I had two 1st place finishes one 4th and a breakout at 1:59 and change! That was a bit frustrating. But it was a very fun race!
More later

Well hopefully you've learned your lesson and will TAKE YOUR FRIGGIN CAMERA ALL THE TIME!!! Sorry bout that, to much Scott Sigler if there ever can be too much Scott Sigler. That probably doesn't make much sense. Scott Sigler is a Podiobook podcaster and author of Earthcore, Ancestor, Infection and just wrapping up, The Rookie. If you haven't ever listened to a podiobook, or a serialized novel AND you like a little King style suspense and lots, AND LOTS of violence and gore, then you need to get over to http://scottsigler.podshow.com/ and give a listen. Hey, you gotta do something while you're driving hours and hours to the next meet.

Hopefully you'll get some footage next time, for now, all is forgiven.

Without Me and Weiss....well its like,

A Daytona 500 without Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhart Jr.
or The Reno Airraces without Strega and The Bear.

you may win but you still will always be .............second best.

Sorry we won't give you a second chance to shoot us down again.

Tommy Gun,

Hopefully you will be able to get the video up of today's race soon...... Lot's of good action including my midair at the finish line. Even the worst day racing is better than the best day working!

Careful what you ask for Jimmy!

I sure hope someone brews him a fresh cup soon.

Vids on the way soon from last month and today.

Sure was nice to have our regular visitors from the Bay area and from Nevada come over and race.

What was that one guys name that had that ungodly fast plane with the honkin' YS120......... Oh yeah! Richard Verano!

I sure hope that he can keep up with the Albino Rhino or whatever in the heck Casey calls himself.

Hey Tommy Gun,

Still trying to make one of your races.....We had a race in Madera on Saturday for the T-34's that pretty much wipes you out for the weekend. We left Saturday morning from San Jose at 4:00am to get there at 6am and setup everythign for the races. When you get home, all you think about is the pillow and your head on it.

I am going to try to make your June 24th race. We have a T-34 race at Morgan Hill on Saturday the 23rd, but it is in my area, so it is possible to do both. You guys should try making some of our warbird races also. The next Warbird race has been rescheduled to July14th at Madera. The 3rd race will be in Morgan HIll on August 11th.... Lots of fun and it is all headsup racing. May the fastest plane and most reliable plane win!!!

I will try to make the July race in Madera as there is no such race here in that month.

I know that you will be more than welcome in the Two Minute Tango next month at SAMs.

Remember that the TMT is not a part season points race series. It is a single event that is run with a two minute breakout time.

Come on over an race with us. And be sure to introduce yourself to let us know who you are.

Kevin,
To add to Tom's message, the Tango is a elimination race as well. Last years race was a ton of fun. Basically there was a cut after a couple of rounds. Then another cut after a couple more rounds and then a last cut after the 5th round leaving the top five pilots to race the 6th and final round. All of the top five pilots received cash! I believe last year had about 25 pilots but I can't remember for certain. It was definitly a blast and there was a ton of "strategy" by all involved....... but as we all know the real secret to winning is "luck".

Tommy gun,
Feeling better now. Can't believe that I couldn't find the retract and battery in the wreakage yesterday. I tried the link and couldn't find the video. Help????? Maybe replay will help me find the missing parts. Did you get any video of the furrow that the plane made? Seemed like 40 feet of carnage.

No Jimmy, I didn't have the heart to go out and get film of that ghastly scar left in the surface of the earth.

By the way, did you and the other pilots replace your divots?

Here's a little something for everyone.

Now that you have had your fun ..... did you take down the pylons like the clubs rules say
as not to "infringe" upon the rest of us modelers ...????

"All pylons must be taken down and the field put back to a presentable condition". Sam club rules since 1985

Well..... did you????

Ask your buddy Jim Sweeny........even he knows about those rules.

Racing is great fun ............when you follow the rules.

Come on John...if you dont have anything nice to say leave it alone. If it is a club thing deal with it internally. No one cares here..

I just wanted to see if he took down the pylons????

Your not making a good impression to the rest of the flyers
at a field if they have to do the cleanup ..........after a race......
to put the field back for normal flying condition.

It makes good karma between racers and the rest of the modelers.

We don't need any airplane magnets out there to hit.

And there have been some beautiful planes lost to the pylons that were left up.

To any moderator,
Can we please stop this from going any further WITHOUT locking this thread?

John Casey is not a member of the SAMs and as such he has no business in the status of the SAMs field before or after a race.

Tommy Gun,
Thanks for the video clip...... now I'll have something to remember the plane by. It only got to race for 7 heats and had 12 total flights. For the 7 heats it had 5 firsts and 2 seconds....... definitely will be missed.

Hang tight Jimmy,

More video is on the way... I just have to sort thru it all and edit it.

I have more shots of that Spit earlier in it's young life.
