Gold spitfire
So I think this question really goes out to Jimmy Skids who IIRC has a gold spitfire. I am looking around for a good platform to use with my YS120 SC I want to build this plane as a gold racer. I have always loved the spitfire ever since I was a kid and I first saw/heard one. I noticed at SAM skids flys a black spitfire and that has plenty of speed. I was thinking of the kyosho spit or the phoenix spit.
So I was wondering what exactly you do Jimmy, do you modify the plane past the normal fuse strengthing, do you have the stock wing or do you build a custom wing?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

Good choice of air frame. I do a little work to make it stronger, but basically it's just a plain old ARF. I'm in the process of building a 3rd one which if all works out well will be stronger, faster, etc (insert 6 million dollar man music here).[8D]

What are you doing? Hmmmmmm?
And just what is that you are rubbing on your wings between rounds?
Or should I ask?

RE: Gold spitfire
Thanks Jimmy,
I think I will get that airframe and put it together over the winter. It will be fun to race gold and silver next year.

OK Skids, better be reeaally careful here.
If "Mommygun" views this thread I can guarantee that it's, "NO TERIYAKI for YOU!", this Sunday. Or at least your cost will be twice what everyone else has to contribute.
As for running Gold and Silver.
I don't mind breaking out in Silver, I race two classes because I'd rather fly than watch. Gold is where I am focusing my efforts.
Silver is more for fun. Besides, it's fun to mess with you when you're calling for your wingman.
So neener neener at you. [sm=tongue_smile.gif]
BTW James, get that Spitty going for the races later this year. Why wait for a winter build?
And make sure you cover it in all black too.

as for all black...................NO, Bulldog, NO>>>>>>> just look up patent number 01012003 and you'll find that all black spitfires are reserved for Jimmy Skids Racing established prior to January 2003. You'll notice from photographic records and 1st place finishes that the black spitfires of Skids Racing Foundation have been on the west coast race scene for nearly 10 years, yes there were a few Mustangs in there, as well as, a well know Black P40 (patent number 01012008 RIP), but for the most part Black Spitfires. So respectfully I would say don't go there. If you need help with a color scheme let me know and I'll do my best to assit.

RE: Gold spitfire
Why a winter build money and other planes to build, I crashed 2 last weekend I only need to replace 1 and that is already ordered.
Don't worry Jimmy although I like the colour of your plane, I was thinking of a patriotic red, white and blue theme, plus I may have to put my trade mark 3d flag on the bottom of the wing.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

RE: Gold spitfire
I have done both the US flag and the Union Jack. For this one I would think there would be a riot if a Englishman put anything other than the union jack on a spitfire, it is more than just a plane in England. The only WWII hero bigger than the spit is Winston himself.

RE: Gold spitfire
The real heros where the about 1000 pilots of many nations that held off the entire german airforce. The hurricane out numbered the spit in the BoB, but the hurricane was vectored to attack the bombers due to the fact that it had cannons and early spits did not, spits went after the fighter escorts. Both aircraft played a huge role in saving Britain, just the spit is much better looking.
The BBMF is a great sight and sound, it flys with a hurricane, a spitfire and a lancaster, or in other words 6 Merlins running at once.
The best sight and sound I heard was driving past duxford one day and I saw what looked like about 20 warbirds in the air. I stopped and it was about 20 spitfire what a sight.
Warbirds of all types are just so cool.

RE: Gold spitfire
No, No, No, you got this wrong. The Bulldog needs to put the Spitty in the English colors, not British.
The red and white colors would be epic and a complete contrast to that black phantom, almost like a yin and yang thing. I could see that Spit with the St. George's Cross and some red racing pin stripes to boot. Use your imagination, you know what I am talking about[sm=shades_smile.gif].
Besides you don't want to be put placed into that same rabble as the Irish and Scottish. When everyone sees my freckles they automatically think my family is Irish and I have to correct them and point out my ancestors were Welsh. Most don't have a clue where that is.

my ancestors were Welsh.
I have thought about using a St George's cross but I find that is too much white, I like the extra colour of the blue. I don't think the shadowing would look very good with the SGC.
