Smallest Realistic Hughes 500/ Little Bird
OK, this is a long term project not likely to be finished before 2 years or so. I want the most realistic (5 bladed, no fly bar) scale bodied helicopter. What I need to know, is what all would I need to see the finished product. I'm not looking for a super performing machine as honestly i'm not to the point of being bored with a stock machine. I'd like the smallest platform that would allow high realism. Links or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
As for bodies, does anyone make a body that is pre painted flat black? I'd rather have that as I'm going for the Night Stalker look and I'm terrible with paint. What amount of programing for the heli would need doing?

Wow that about as open endded as it gets.
Vario tends to have the most accurate scale helis. But they tend to be big gassers
How "Real" do you want it?
Have you chosen a real Heli your modeling after?
what size did you have in mind?
Do you have a budget or price range in mind?
I want the most realistic

RE: Smallest Realistic Hughes 500/ Little Bird
Well as stated, I want this to be a long term project so I can be flexable on cash. I want the smallest thing I can fit flybarless 5 rotor main rotor on it. I am wanting something to look like this (since you're not familiar with night stalkers Ipresume, or manybe you meant one unique one. I don't know.) Anyway, doing the AH6 (gun slinger) or MH6 (transport, with benches) would work. I really appreciate any help guys. Note: I do not possess the skill or fine motor skills to make a whole ton of custom work body work.

I'd say go with a 600 or larger. Thats the only way your going to get anything with quality any detail. There are lots of Huges 500 and 500E's out in that size. You would have to make all the night stalker details and paint it yourself.
Take a look at RC Aerodyne. they have several 500's.

I can fly fixed pitch competently but I can't say I've flown collective more than a few times. I catch on quickly though.

Your going to want to wait until you can fly a collective pitch heli well. If you like the 500 fuse's that where on the site and think you want to go with the 600 size then get a Trex 600 and fly it pod and boom for a while.

I'm way ahead of you. I stated that this was a long term project for two reasons: Money, and flight experience.

RE: Smallest Realistic Hughes 500/ Little Bird
two questions:
1. What kind of electrical nightmare do I unleash on myself by switching to a 5 rotor fly-barless head?
2. When I do switch over, how do Iknow which rotor blades will provide enough lift? Will they? or might I have to upgrade motors?

I don't really know what you need, but if you contacted the owner of these videos, they may help you out.
Not a Hughes, nor 5 bladed, but small and realistic looking:

2. If its a 450 or smaller stock motor will probly handle it but you might want a gear change. 600 you will most likly need to change stock motor.

I am completely green so bear with me:
What is good to look for in gears? Can someone breakdown what advantages upgrading a gyro will do? I'm sure this is quite elementary to a whole lot of you but I would really appreciate being filled in.

This my custom 4 bladed MIA MD500E helicopter, which I built around the same time that Walkera came out with the 4#3B.
