That's a nice one. I got the Bell 230 in the air today and will have pix coming.

Hi Michael,
No Fabien involved in this ones as far as I know.
There's a kit going to France, so that might be for him?
The only other thing the frames are used for are the specialised units for filming, surveillance &c.

Actually, yes, Fabien is from France and is expert with Fenestrons and interior detail (his colleague does the detail). Quite talented, the lot of them.
I can't wait until this is ready for prime time.

There is a learning curve with the turbines such as the plumbing involved and programming the ECU, but after you do one, and know what the pitfalls are, they are nice. Its like flying an electric helicopter which smells like Jet fuel<G>

My experience with the electric Agusta was good, other than the lack of technology (at the time) for long flight times. I'm wondering what type of motor setup it would take to fly a 90+ sized heli on an electric motor. Is it feasible and practical yet??

You might need to pay $1000 for a battery pack, but damn, those things fly, and fly well..
I don't think the problem is so much with the technology now, it's the price of it. A powerful electric heli setup will probably cost you as much as a turbine heli.

This is exactly the ship Fabien said he was testing with guys in Australia. I told him we would review the prototype ship once they finished it. (I told him I'd buy it for RCU to review). I would almost rather invest the $$ and do it in an electric version. Much simpler but I'm wondering what size motor and pack you'd need to power this beast. Also, the charging on the LiPolys would kill any car battery! Maybe turbine is better at this size....

Myself and a couple of friends have already developed a convertion set for the Skyfox, Extreme, and Benzin mechanics to electric. We have flown a 18lb fuse on these same motors and controllers which we use in the Joker helis in the modified mechanics. I have just got the first set of mounts for the skyfox and extreme and will be placing them on the web site soon.

Koehler motor, Tanic 10S3P lipo packs. Kontronic controller, or Schulze controller.
So far we have converted a Vario large 300C, EC135, Dauphin, 412 and Huey. The lightest was 15lbs, and so far the heaviest has been 18lbs, but the new conversion with the benzin mechanics will probably get you up to 26lbs. Peter Wales converted his large Hirobo 430 to electric, and that weighs 24lbs and flys with authority.

When you get a chance on Mon, give me a call. Nasty loss of power and pancake of the Bell. My fault -- too rich on break in and she drifted on me. I should have set her down when I had the chance but I tried to fly it back....UGH. this heli is cursed.
