Painting Scale Bodies
I was wanting to get some tips on painting some of the cheaper scale bodies.....the clear plastic ones, is it better to paint the inside or the outside, and you guys spray anytype of clear overcoat to protect the paint? Also, do you guys just use model spray paint or are you guys airbrushing them?

RE: Painting Scale Bodies
I was told to use the polycarbonate paint, on the inside.
Being the person I am, I had to try automotive paint on the outside. It works but makes the PTEG more brittle and it breaks easier. Adherance is fine, no clear coat, just the shiny one coat dupont stuff.

Follow this link for an extensive info into scale.
Later in the chapters he explains his procedure for painitng.
This is for a full scale body but the only one I have found.
If anyone has a suggestion and maybe a procedure for the smaller ones I would appreciate it too.

RE: Painting Scale Bodies
For painting the clear lexan bodies I used RC Car body paint from a hobby shop. You need to wash the inside very well and let it dry. When painting from the inside is best to paint your dark colors first. When doing any masking make sure you use a very sharp exacto knife for any cuts as a dull one will tend to pull your tape some. Also make sure your edges pressed nice and tight because if they are not you will get some runs under the tape.
