There are 2 people that make fuses for the trex JMD models and Darthdrk I just put a Darthdrk Hughes 500E on my XL and it looks great. Heli direct carries his line. They are lexan so they are painted on the inside and are pretty easy to detail to look sport scale.... I have pics posted on RR if you would like to see them... Same handle over there just do a search in the scale forum or trex 450 forum..

Thanks for the info. Your helicopter looks really nice. How do you paint the inside of the boom, do u need a special sprayer and would it be hard to keep the fuselage windows clear?

The boom comes it 2 pieces so you just spray the inside like you would the rest of the body. As for the windows mine are tinted a smoke color, I just used liquid masking painted then peeled th masking off then sprayed the tint on .... But you could just leave them clear if you wanted.... There are alot of options .....

The boom slides into the body on the one end and is small enough to be held in place at the tail with a little foam on the inside to center it on the boom. The bottom seam is held together with scotch tape as is the bottom of the main body for easy removal to access the mechanics...

Removing the tail braces doesn't effect the stability at all, They are there for hard 3D flying I think as I usually remove them from all of my helis, even the blade CP.... but for sport flying, flip, rolls, loops, etc.... it makes no difference in my opinion.. I love the look and feel of flying a heli with a fuselage on it....

Here is a picture of a bell ranger from http://darthdrk.4t.com/.
Mine is a Trex HDE . Just started a couple days ago. Hardest part so far is taking your time when cutting out the window openings.
Darth, makes excellent quality fuses.
You can also check out www.funscale.com He has a really good build on the jet ranger along with some good vids of flying.

Slider, thanks for the input. I had to do a redo on the paint scheme. Someone pointed out to me that I did not have the paint job as per the real heli so I had to do a bit of a repaint to correct it. No problem the krylon paint covers very good.
Having a bit of a time tinting the windows. I wish darth would make the petg plastic tinted already, but I suppose there would be people who would want it clear.

I am new to the seen and recearching as much as I canon helis. I am strongly leaning to the scale type because they are the closest to the real thing. I really like the Airwolf look. In a mag I got last month it had Century with a special on the Airwolf. I like that but.. the entire fram and mechanics are plastic. Does anyone have comments to an upgrade type upper scale heli at .60 scale?

Hello slider46.
I just joined this forum because you seem to know something about lexan fuselages. I just bought a lexan Jet Ranger fusealge for my Blade 400. It came in six main pieces, front, miffle, and tail boom. Many questions I have, 1) do I glue the halves together, and with what glue? 2) How do I mount the fuselage to the frame of my heli? 3) What is a good way to make the fuselage removable for working on the heli?
Thank you for any help.

The jet ranger is an easy build but you must take your time and think things thru... As far as glue I like to use shoo glue on the lexan and petg plastics, it wouks really well. The front piece gets glued together, I use small earth magnets from radio shack to hold the nose piece on for easy removal to access the batteries... The middle section I glue just the top seams together and leave the bottom open for removal of the body. I use scotch tape to hold the bottom together when I install it on the mechanics.. Same with the tail boom glue just the top half and tape the bottom when you install it...
Mounting The body.... This is something you will have to work out for your heli. They usually need some wooden blocks between the mechanics and the body to get the boom to the right height and the head high enough to clear the dog house... I then sandwich the body between the landing gear and those wood blocks....

Slider46,
Thanks for the feedback. I have been slowly finding little bits of info on building and installing a fuselage. I stopped on the way home and picked up some bulsa and basswood stock. I also bought M300M from Mercury Adhesives. It's what the guy said to use, and was before I read your glue recomandation. I know they do not have shoo glue. I will look for some of that, and test what I have. Happy flying to ya!!!

Hi, before you make up your mind you might want to look at the Hightorque range of fuselage kits for the T-Rex 450 helicopters.

I just picked up an Align EC 135 fuselage for my T-Rex. Very nicely made. Haven't started to install the mechanicals yet though. Will see how well that goes. If I like flying scale, I'll probably install my Heli Max Kinetic 50 in an MD500 body.
