RE: Chinook scale build
I have been thinking of going electric for a more scale feel, and more importaintly less vibration. Anyone have ideas on suitable brushless motors and ESC that will do the job? The Align 90 flies the machine great but I could do without the noise, oil smoke, and vibration Converting to electric will be very easy, But finding suitable equipment is my prob.

I'm flying a 30+ lb, 7-foot long electric Sikorsky S-76C+. You can get what you need from Sandy at www.v-eastonline.com . Call him.
I'm running a proprietary 8hp outrunner with a Kontronik Power Jazz 63 ESC and two 6S, 10,500mAh packs from MaxAmps.com. 1,000mm blades (aluminum).
Go electric; especially on a tandem. I had the Hirobo CH-46 and it flew fine, but vibrations and smoke ruined the scale effect.
Or...go turbine!

RE: Chinook scale build
Thanks mkranitz, I have made the decision to go electric, I have found some equipment That should match the .90 I am currently using, And ill be using 4 x 5000mAh 5s packs to produce a 10,000 mAh 10s.

Sounds good. Contact Cliff Preston at MaxAmps and tell him I sent you. He can hook you up with either 4 cells or two 10amp 5S packs (easier to manage and charge).

I agree BarracudaHockey, oil smoke and noise is not the best for scale models. I think electric is the next best thing to turbines. The only downfall is you don't get the sweet smell of burnt jetA1[&o]

Yes I have, Alexdrift
Hopfully I will receive them soon, I have also ordered new pullies to adjust the gear ratio to run at the motors rated output rpm. The convertion should go smooth However i'll have to make a longer shaft for the motor so I can use the pilot bearing on the other side of the pully

RE: Chinook scale build
Well I've been waiting so long I decided to start building a large brushless myself just for fun here are some pics of the stator, endshields, and the rotating yoke. The stator is a 12 tooth and I will be running 16 magnet poles.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]
