I just finished the 1st flight on my 700 size 500E from RC Aerodyne.

Sweet!. I'm looking to build something similar but in the 500-600 size range. do you have any "gotchas" that i should watch out for?

Nice!
Any plans to go with a 5-blade head? Been keeping an eye out for one these when they get some back in stock. http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...ss-Head/Detail |
RE: Big 500E's 1st flight
I have a lightening 5 bladed head and TF models 700 mm scale blades but had a LOT of problems. I'm not sure if it was the head or the blades. I'll get back to it at the end of the seasson.
The only gotcha I found was that the glue that held the floor and formers seemed brittle. I went over it with some epo grip epoxy. I've found that to be common on a lot of the standoff scale fuses. other than that I have to say it was the easyest build I've ever done. With four doors that open and the size of the fuse you can get at everything. i could get use to that LOL. |

I'm running a streched chaos 600 with a 12S power setup. works great for scale cost less. |

Somone at the NERF event got some much better footage of the 500E
