Weigh in on Scale!

Welcome to RCU's newest helicopter forum!

We opened this area up so our members could discuss and share scale projects. With so many new manufacturers entering the market, scale helis are becoming more and more popular and affordable.

Here's one of my scale helis (let's see what you've got!):

Alright....another scale forum!!!!

I'll have to make this one of my regular haunts to check out.

Below is a pic of my Airwolf at the Birmingham AL event earlier this year. I took it to IRCHA this year and placed respectably for my first time competing. Next years model with may be my Vario UH 1D.

RE: Weigh in on Scale!

Scale is really what I am interested in but my pocket book disagrees. I have a Nexus 46 model and I am currently trying to put together a Hughes 500 body. I bought it really cheap out of Australia (50 bucks to my door) and it's for a 30 size heli. It is just the body though and no wood work. I have to build that myself. I would like to make it a 500md. Is there a place where I could maybe buy the rear fin set, wings and rocketpods, nose radar, and window kit for a 30 size 500? I know it wouldn't bolt right up but it would be easier than fabing every myself.

Oh yea and I'll post some pics of the build when I get batteries for my camera. Although I don't think you guys would be interested in it. It will not compare to the models already posted. Which by the way are awesome. I love the Raptor 60 500md and the Airwolf. Excellent job.

MK,
Very cool new thread! BLK WDO90 We would like to see pics of your scale model. I just bought a Quick of Japan 16v2 (30 size electric) To use for scale mechanics. Both Harold Little Owner Helicopterhobbies.com (Quick Japan-US) and Randy Swann (Quick Japan Rep) And myself are going to be building scale QJ models. This thread came at the perfect time! I am going to start with a bell 222 fuse and go from there. Very nice cobra MK, and Vario..Well your Vario, nuff said! Nice pictures guys, CJ very nice cockpit detailing. looking forward to lots more!
Take care,
Jay

Hey Jay,

Welcome aboard!! Anything we can do, please let us know.

I've got a Vario Big Bell 230 on the bench now. Sandy S. from V-East built the fuse and I'm finishing up 11.2:1 mechs (after unsuccessfully blowing the machine up at 5,200 feet (denver) trying the 10:1 mechs and blades that were too short!.

Now, with 825mm blades and the new XTreme mechs I have high hopes. I'll have pix up soon.

Michael
