Default By the time i hit 3rd gear ..........

Now as most of you know i changed the gears last saturday and also pinion and bearings. Now the truck is screaming through 1st , 2nd and until it hits 3rd for some reason. Its like something is holding 3rd back for some reason, and bogging it down from reaching its blistering potential. I need some menace help !

I am not sure what the problem could be with the info you supplied. Could be several things.

BTW, Did you get those parts from us?

Yes i did , i still need U2790 , when it was time to repair bearings and pinion and gears , i really needed U2790 and had to borrow one from my LHS. What could be holding 3rd gear back. It takes some time to shift into 3rd and when it does it boggs down.

Here are some ideas of what the problem could be:
-Something caught up in the transmission somewhere
-engine needs to be retuned
-springs mixed up on the 3speed shifter
-something was put together the wrong way

I dont think I have had this problem with my car yet but hopefully one of those ideas may help.

It is most likely the mixture screw. It may be lean and then fall flat, or it is rich and not hitting top rpms. The shift from from 1st to second is at an earlier rpm than the shift to 3rd.

The 2mm hex driver finally arrived from Schumacher. But did you forget that I gave you the insert for the 2mm hex FOR FREE? You had the tool all long. Just put that tip into the handle of another tool.

Come to think of it, I thought today that I might have had the engine mixture a little on the lean side. Tomorrow I will richen its mixture until it shifts correctly. I cleaned out some trash in my fuel tank a few minutes ago so I will see if this could also be a factor. But I personally think you have hit it on the head that it is a little too lean. Sorry about the cell phone calls.

The fuel we use is 1/10 to 1/8 oil. If you dont clean the lines and empty the tank every time, the alchohol evaporates and leaves behind the thick gummy oil. This will clog the lines and the jet in the carb.

I would like to be running my cars, but still too much snow. Have fun and let me know how it progresses!

Maybe too late but i had the same problem with a menace gtr and found that it was running too lean, but seemed fine untill it reached third gear.
Once i adjusted mixture all was fine.

Never too late anthoop , this is a help forum for schumacher owners , and all your help is appreciated. I love my menace and i enjoy learning how to fix it. Some people think that you buy Nitro RC's and they never break or you never have problems. I really feel for those people. I realized when i decided to get into this hobby i would need all the help i could get. And you and others help is what I count on.

anthoop, groundman is just asking here because he is one of our customers. I am sure the manufacturers forum is loaded with all the info. You have me thinking that maybe I should just contribute to the racing-cars dot com forum. This way all the U.S. Schumacher customers will find out about our Schumacher specific store and low prices. BTW, does Adrian poke around in that forum still?

Oh, I didnt mean it that way. I was serious. It may make the most sense to go there for us all. Why spread info out when we can keep it all in one place, and where better than at the manufacturers?

Cheers!
