They didnt say this in the manual !

Saturday night i was in the process of replacing 2nd gear in the menace and i decided to replace pinion and clutch also. After getting the pinion off and removing the .21 thunder tiger i ran into a bit of a snag. The nut that holds the clutch on the motor shaft would not come off. Keep in mind that i am a power lifter and a big ol boy and i consider myself somewhat strong. I fought and fought and finally got it loose. The problem was the lock tite that was holding that baby on. RED LOCKTITE is some serious chit and schumacher never mentioned this in the directions. I went ahead and put some back on the shaft nut after installing the new clutch and gears.

Wow, heat is the only way I would have been able to get it off.
Did you red locktite it back on?
Hope so, that part needs it.

nooo ur never suppose to use red loctite on anything unless you dont plan on taking the part back off. always use the blue loctite, it will hold things in place but at the same time wont be that hard to take back off.

Pro- I generally thinkyou are right, but I had used blue on mine and itdidnt come loose, but had shifted.
After the red, it is rock solid, and I dont plan on removing it for a long time.

Groundman, sounds like a complaint, LOL. With the proper tools it is an easy job. With the wrong tools it is a nightmare that can cause damage to the flywheel.

Blue is all you need. I have run without threadlock with no problems. If it is tight it will be fine. The rotation of the motor is in the direction that will self-tighten the nut anyway. ;)

Hey what about this http://tkocompetitiondev.com/shop/pr...roducts_id=292

Vibra-Tite is a special aerobic threadlocker. It is NOT like Loctite that cures without air.

You apply to your clutch bell screws or wheel nuts or other hardware...filling at least half the height of the threads and let dry..7 to 10 minutes. Once cured it forms into a plastic like substance that stays on and allows you to remove and reinstall the hardware many times without re-application.

You can pre-treat your hardware and put it in your box for later use. It also works well for screwing into plastic parts!
