RE: Taube
I'm pretty sure I came across one or two when reviewing the free plans links in the Free Plans sticky thread. You may want to start with going through all the links in that thread. Along the way you may well find something that you like more than a Taube so even if I'm not remembering accurately it certainly won't be time wasted.

You do realize Balsa USA has a 40 size also don't you? I think the kit is a good value. I had one and you couldn't ask for a better flying three channel plane. One of my all time favorites all around. I used an OS .48 Surpass at 4500' altitude and it was perfect.

RE: Taube
When I bought mine I think it was 69.99 but even at 93.00 you would probably be hard pressed to scratch build one for much less, especially if you count your time. The kit goes together very easily. Mine flew incredibly well. It is a surprise that a three channel plane handled so well with so little dihedral. For one it built very light even covered with Sig Koverall. Maybe the rudder both above and below the elevator makes a difference? I flew mine for quite a while with skis and I just let the rudder serve as a tiller in the snow. Best ski plane I ever had hands down. It wouldn't take a lot of work to add ailerons either.

RE: Taube
The last time I was looking at the plans for sale on Balsa USA they specifically stated that they did not contain enough information to build their planes anyway. I'll have to look again.

Cleveland Model and Supply has them. I have a set. They are okay. You could easily build an RC bird with them. Datafiles has a Taube booklet which, I'm sure, has excellent 3-views you could use to generate plans. I am currently building a DH-5 using them (Datafiles) as a reference.

You can google for plans or you can look at the thread titles for this forum. There's a sticky thread titled "Free Plan Dowload Links"or some such at the top of the listings. You'll find a list of links that save you all the googling. Your eyes went right past it when you started scanning for the title forthisthread.

How the heck do I make these fonts bigger LOL OK I have been lucky enough to find a local modeler who is building the 40 size from a kit he bought a long time ago, he says the plans are complete with all the parts drawn in for scratch building Mike

RE: Taube
Well I got the plans from my friend, not sure what the kit was, it just says "Tuabe, Dove of War.the plans are very vague and built like the proverbial brick outhouse, 60 inch wingspan designed for 35 to 60 sze engines, I design and scratch build all my stuff so I am just using the general outlines and have alraady got the wing built with lightening holes cut everywhere I could and ailerons installed in the outer panel, not too sure just how effect they will be Mike

RE: Taube
You were right, when I got the plans he had cut them up to fit his building table, I taped them back together and got them copied, I checked and they are the Balsa Usa plans and its going to take a bit a figuring to sort out that fuse, they only show a side and top view and one typical former and a nose block, I am hoping he has not started the kit and I can copy some of the parts Mike

RE: Taube
Ok Has anyone ever built this Balsa USA 40 sized Taube ?? If so how the heck did you get a fuel tank into the thing?? At the end if the manual it states , just install engine tank and radio, it has solid ply bulkheads and no access forward of the wing, the tank will have to installed while you are building and no access to it ??
