What paint scheme to choose?
Hi,I am building my first model aircraft from scratch, the construction is now complete but the painting part is left,Now my problem is that i am so confused about what color(scheme) should i choose for my model. My main aims for the paint job are 1)High visiblity in the sky 2)should look good on ground. My model is a straight wing .46 size model.

"High visiblity in the sky "
Don't count on any color doing that. Unless your bird is enormous, you will find out that it will turn into a black dot VERY quickly, as it gets further out.

RE: What paint scheme to choose?
Somebody recently posted a topic about the most dreaded part of construction. I’ll have to say that for me it is picking out a paint scheme. I might as well be color-blind when it comes to this stage of construction. My tastes in aircraft paint jobs are always defined as middle-aged, heterosexual tacky. Oh well, at least most anyone can pick mine out of the crowd.
I do usually try to paint the bottom of the wing some sort of “invasion stripes” or huge checkerboard so that I can easily tell whether the airplane is upright or inverted, but to tell the truth, if it’s close enough to identify the paint scheme, it’s close enough to tell if it’s upside down or right side up.
Sorry to be of little help here. Good luck with your choices. We would love to see pictures of your decisions.

look for a race car or even an advertisment with colors you like, look for something that jumps out and appeals to you, then try to work those colors into a scheme for your plane.

Top Flite has a color chart that has some interesting designs.
Like Foodstick said, keep your eyes out for color schemes you like. Advertisers pay huge amounts of money on research to get their products to "POP". Look at the colors they use and the ratios they use them in. 80% bright red and 20% white looks new, fast, powerful. 50% bright red to 50% white looks old, tired, dated, and slow.
Here is Coke's label.
Here is a new fast jet.
Here is a old slow cub looking plane.
Here is a new aerobatic plane that now looks old and slow because of the ratio of red to white.

As I'm building my planes i look for photos/pictures in magazines of the plane I am building. I usually find several and I clip them out and tack them in front of my building board. I usually come up with a mix of all of them. Yellow and any contrasting colors are the easiest for me to see in the air so I lean towards yellow as my base or main color. I also found buls eyes or circles are very easy to see so once in a while I use them on the bottom of the plane.

The rail roads did a study and found that shapes are more readily identified by the brain than colors. So your roundels would fit with that.
Must be a residual hunting skill since allot of tasty animals have the same colors but require different approaches to catch.
